  1. Yep, Sabai Inn rooms have safes or at least my room this summer had one. It was there basic room too.
  2. Now if you could feed the wild monkeys TO the crocodiles I might waste the time.
  3. Hey all I like a good dinner buffet especially with decent seafood. Any recommendations in Pattaya? I did a search but couldn't find much. I'm interested in a high quality dinner buffet and not necessarily concerned about price. I've read about Apex and Diana Inn but I get the impression that these resturants have kind of basic fare at a good price. The one hotel I remember being recommended was The Montien Hotel. I'll definitely hit them. Any others come to mind?
  4. Oh, and I managed a drunken weave from a beer bar arounf FLB to Areca at 3 or 4am and made it home alive. One note of caution though about that night; security maybe lax. I had a pyscho barfine from several days earier show-up at my room around 4am pounding on my door. Freaked me out. Maybe it's not an issue. The pyschos will probably always find a way in I guess but in my drunken state it was very alarming.
  5. Great report Tengotodo! I love Areca and am very disappointed that they are booked-up for my upcoming trip. Now I'll admit it, I'm a relative cheap charlie when it comes to hotels and stay in the least expensive Areca rooms that doesn't have a great view. I don't spend a whole lot of time on my balcony so why spent the extra cash for a view of a pool. At about 1000 baht low season it was a great deal. Everything Tengotodo said was correct. Where I differ is that I don't think you get a lot more at Areca spending up to 1600 baht. The larger rooms aren't too impressive and I can do
  6. Definitely let your bank know you'll be in Asia between x and x dates. If they start to see strange withdrawls halfway around the globe they could block the card. I have always let them know and never had a problem. Just for kicks tell them you'll be spending the money on pussy and beer. Let me know how it goes.
  7. What could be easier than walking out of the airport, grabbing a taxi to Mo Chit and picking-up a bus within a half-an-hour? From airport to hotel 300 baht with the baht bus figured in and you get to either sit next to a bar girl going to work or a smelly drunk. Last time I was lucky enough to sit right next to the toilet and got a good whiff everytime someone used it. But seriously, the buses are quick and easy. Never had a problem with them.
  8. I'm currently living in Taiwan and just recently downloaded Skype. So far so good. My calls home are 0.021 cents per minute to the US. They also have a program where you can buy a local number in your hometown so that family back home only make a local call to reach you. Thinking about signing up for that too. Then again if you don't like using a headset you won't want to use Skype. Personally I love using a headset. Hands free.
  9. I'm on the other side of this issue. I love to fly. Heck, I'd fly to every morning to work if I could. I get a rush from the whole travel experience including flying. So, with that said, I'm just curious... Where does the anxiety come in? Concern about a crash? Just being 'in the sky' which is not normal for us? This is no slight to the guys out there experiencing a fear of flying. I'm sure I have my own anxieties such as ordering meat in a Cambodian resturant.
  10. One note of caution about Sabii Inn. I stayed there for a few days in June. I liked everything about it. Good location as I'm not a big gogo hound. Baht buses stop right in front of the hotel. Big room. Safes. No tub showers (I like shower stalls). Great staff. Good price. But I still left after a few days and went to Areca. Why? The beds. They are rocks. I swear to God that they quilted steal into the matresses. I couldn't get comfortable, in any position hehe, on them. Was it just me or do any of you who stayed there had this problem as well?
  11. I've stayed at Areca twice now and have enjoyed it both times. One note of caution though; security is lax. I had a pyscho barfine from several days earier show-up at my room around 4am pounding on my door. Maybe it's not an issue. The pyschos will probably always find a way in I guess but in my drunken state it was very alarming.
  12. growler - Could you post the site you gained your info from? Typically I get a lot of very basic info from travel websites about buses in Thailand and not the full blown, nationwide schedules I'm looking to find. You can find them for the train system but not the buses. I also had found that buses left around 5:00am to Pattaya but really wanted to back it up somewhere so I'm not dicking around at Mochit at 5am. If we both found the same info I guess it's correct. I've heard the Thai Limo mini bus service to Pattaya is kaput yet all the travel sites still show the service. I just want to av
