  1. I have been back just over a week from my most recent trip. After the first week or so I started to get a very sore throat but it also included a fever. I was burning up. I went to the Pattaya Bangkok Hospital which was an absolute model of efficiency and the nurses are something else. Very smart in their uniforms and most were at least 8 on the mongering scale. The doctor looked down my throat and said acute tonsilitis. He also said I was rundown, looked tired and had been working too hard! more like shagging and drinking too hard! Antibiotic injection in my bum made me feel so much better by the first evening, and the remainder of the antibiotic tablets plus some others to get rid of the inflamation did the trick. Total bill was over 7000bt. Needless to say, my complimentary travel insurance has a £50 excess on medical expenses!
  2. Thanks for those comments - very useful. Jambo
  3. Walt, I am going to take a friend to Kho Samet next month for a couple of nights. I have never been before but I have seen a series of photo's and it looks really lovely. Definately a place just to chill out with a favourite tg. The recommendation is to book the best hotel (i.e. the most expensive) as the others suck! I intend to do that when I get back to Pattaya. I will post a report with photo's when I get back. Jambo
  4. I just noticed this comment which I feel is worth a response. I flew the 777 in Oct/Nov and I found the seating in economy to be very comfortable. Admittedly I do not have long legs but even allowing for that I had plenty of room and the back seat entertainment is also a vast improvement. The food's shite but what airline food isn't? We are flying EVA again on 31st Jan and that cost us £533 each.
  5. Very grateful
  6. And the winner is:
  7. School Teacher asks the kids what hobbies/interests their parents had. Sara says " My mum goes to the Gym 3 times a week." "Very good" says the Teacher Paul sticks his hand up and says "My Dad buys old motor cars and makes them look like new miss." "Thats very good too" says the Teacher again. "And what about your Dad Jimmy, does he have any hobbies?" Jimmy stands up and says "My Dad spends all his money betting on the horses and going to clubs where Ladies dance and take all their clothes off!" "Oh dear, thank you Jimmy. I think thats enough for now." After the lesson the Teacher asks Jimmy to stay behind and asks him if what he said was true. To which Jimmy replies "No, of course not Miss but I was too embarrassed to say he watches the Forest!"
  8. "Sit on my face and tell me that you love me. Sit on my face and tell me that you care."
  9. Cheers Dave, Splitting the old firm will be some achievement let alone winning it! One things for sure, its never boring these days supporting the Hearts. Another big game on Sunday - away to the sheepshaggers. Poor Graham Rix on a hiding to nothing - he will get the blame if we lose and none of the credit for a win. I wonder if Burley will end up at the Rangers?

    Joke

I was shagging this girl on the Town beach one night when she says: "Danny, stop stop!" "whats the matter? " says I "Danny, I want you to get you balls into me. Danny can you get your balls into me?" "O.K. I'll try - Do you like that then? " "No! But every time you go forward you are shovelling sand up my arse! "
  11. You are a cruel man! I have a feeling away matches are going to get very interesting in future. By all accounts he is a very good coach and appears to have gone down very well with the players. Time will tell. Anyway, do you like our away shirt?
  12. I had my annual flu jag today - cost me £25. I was worried I might catch a common strain of British flu and miss a trip to LOS!

    KLM

I flew KLM once Edb/Ams/Bkk. It was the most uncomfortable flight I have ever experienced in my life. The plane was old and the seats were knackered - like sitting on a plank of wood for 11 hours!

    Quantas

I thank everyone for the comments. We booked yesterday for January and in the end decided to stay with EVA basically for the new 777 and the fact that there was really not a lot to chose between the price. Jambo

    Quantas

Reading this thread is just like reading the comments you would get if someone was to post "Whats Misty's bar like these days?" The replies will inevitably be very subjective depending upon what happened to one particular individual at any one given moment in time. I use that as an example merely because I keep seeing photo's of various boardies with one, and often more, great looking tg's from that establishment and all inevitably singing its praises. Everytime I have been there, its been shite but I will give it another chance!! Anyway, its been good fun reading all the comments and I will have one final attempt to spell "Qantas" correctly as I noticed that having previously apologised I then did it again several times! Jambo PS - I think after all that we are going to book EVA again!

    Quantas

Be delighted Matty, I have been known to frequent that establishment Just look for a short, ugly fucker with a Scottish accent trying to make himself understood to the worst looking hostess in the bar. I will be near him somewhere! Jambo

    Quantas

Many thanks for all the comments and my apologies for the incorrect spelling of Qantas. Ingrained habit to follow a "Q" with a "U" plus the fact that my spelling always has been a bit dodgy! So to summarise: The inflight service is either very good or shite depending on whether Trev or Shaz has a party to go to or not! The safety record is great apart from,...... when its not! That clears that up then! I came to the conclusion some time ago that I would have to trade quality of transport for quantity of visits. So its cattle class 3 or 4 times a year and price but direct flights only. We are flying EVA at the end of October on the new 777. The price currently for end of January is quoted at £464 on Quantas and £504 for EVA. Not a lot in it now and as January is still relatively high season I doubt if the price will come down much. Tom, I will miss Hibs away in October but the next home game against the wee team is 3 days before we plan to leave at the end of Jan! Will miss Aberdeen at home though but thats a small price to pay for 3 weeks in Funtown! Jambo
  20. We are going to book our flights for end of January this week. Probably would have booked EVA again but the cheapest fare coming up from LHR is currently the Quantas flight. Any comments would be appreciated - I have never flown Quantas. Danny
  21. Alan, No, but you can get a fish supper if you are really homesick! Forget Scottish bars and think Thai Pussy! My pal John and I are in town from 26th October if you fancy a beer or two. Jambo
  22. Pete, When I followed your suggestion I discovered that the "check for newer versions of stored pages" was set on "NEVER"! I changed it to "Automatically" and that appears to have done the trick! I will follow up on your suggestion re firefox as an alternative to IE. Once again my thanks and also to Winston & Alan for moral support. Danny p.s I have now installed firefox and I am very impressed so far - apart from anything else it seems so much quicker.
  23. Pete, I spoke too soon! The same problem is back again i.e. I can access Pattayatalk O.K. but the latest comments on any particular topic are not being updated on my PC which is misbehaving. As suggested I have the security settings set on low - initially I thought that had cured the problem but that has proved not to be the case. Infact some of the individual postings I could read earlier, including my previous comment to you saying it was O.K, have now disappeared! There is no firewall. Any further suggestions will be appreciated. Danny
  24. Pete, Many thanks as that seems to have done the trick - I hope! All my problems seem to commence when I recently upgraded the dialup I had on this PC to Broadband. Danny
