VERY SAD NEWS - Om (cashier) Died Today
jambo replied to carlsberg's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
That is very sad news. All the staff in the FLB seemed to be such a happy group. I am sure all her friends in the bar, and of course her family, must be devastated. My condolences. -
Alan, I am looking at the ONSPEED advertisment in Windows XP magazine. In tiny letters at the bottom it states "Software not compatible with AOL browsers." Danny

Me too, I went from a 35" waist as well!

To be honest, its not all that great. Only food available is snacks although plenty of them. Full range of drinks so that is O.K. The lounge itself is quite small and can get crowded as it did the last time I was there. I don't think I would bother again.

I once flew cattle class from Amsterdam on KLM to Bangkok. I have never experienced a more uncomfortable seat in my life. 10 hours of squirming around trying to get respite from the ache in my arse! On the other hand, I flew back once on EVA Evergreen d/lux and found myself sitting next to a Thai lady with a 10 month old baby. I didn't have the heart to tell her she was in MY window seat and resigned myself to another shite trip back. Not only did the baby sleep most of the way but when it was awake it seemed only to make chuckling noises! Mum was at least a 7/8 as well

Just taking swimming trunks ??????

I have about 10 or so short sleeved shirts hanging in my wardrobe I bought specifically for trips to Pattaya. I usually pack a selection of maybe half of those each trip. I once wore one of these shirts to go to a pub here in Edinburgh on a Friday with my pals. The abuse I took was something to behold Well I like them but I must admit maybe I am colour blind -
Sinbinjack, Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Just booked my Pal John (his newbie visit) and myself for 1st June same price. Unlike me, he is a real Scot and is likely to be like a rat up a drainpipe We will go straight down to Pattaya using Image Limo's. If you want to join us let me know. Jambo

Trooper my old son, Me thinks thou doth protest too much! Time to come out of the closet. We will not think any the less of you as a toffee packer.

Only 2 weeks to go and I am back in Fun Town! Yet again, Pete & Hilly hit me with even more establishments to add to my ever growing list of places to visit for the first time. Its a bastard, but I suppose someones got to do it! Cheers Danny

Leave it out John! I have just returned from Tynecastle absolutely enriched by watching yet another 0 - 0 draw. Another European hangover I am afraid. But I will be back for the next home (against the Hibs) like I have for the last 14 years - forever the optimist. I have held season tickets at Highbury, the Villa and now the Jambo's. When I watched the Gunners and the Villa both had some great Scottish players but that was pre-Bosman and when the Schools still had playing fields! I come from Highgate Village but my Granny was an "Anderson", born in Edinburgh, so I am as qualified to play for Scotland as a good number of Bertie's all stars : More so, if you take into account that I at least live in Scotland! Tom, I watched the game against SC Braga in my local (the Rainbow) which was packed! Hearts did really well with De Vries once again turning up trumps. As we are not going to win the EUFA Cup I simply want us in a group with 4 top clubs. Newcastle would be nice

I have just watched the highlights of the Arsenal (4) Charlton (0) match on the box. Considering the crap I watch every week it is wonderful to see how the game is meant to be played IMHO it does not get much better than I have just witnessed. Henry is almost the complete player and I do not think I have ever seen anyone score a goal with a backheel like he scored today. I remember the Lawman scoring against MU with a backheel but that was from a much closer range. Arsenal pass the ball around at such speed and the players seem to instinctively know where a team mate is going to run. I admit to being a touch biased. Its over 20 years since I lived in London, you know the good old days when english was everyones first language, but once a Gunner always a Gunner

Tough question that Can I ask a friend?

Right on!

I went to the Pattaya track in June. Its quite a big track and they have a range of karts for hire including some which are really fast - well they scared the shit out of me! I cannot remember the cost but they were cheaper than U.K. prices. Well worth a visit. Jambo

Having booked Eva and Evergreen deluxe for the first time for my next two trips in October and Feb I was very pleased to read the comments in this thread. Prior to picking up the odd references to Eva in this forum I had never even heard of this Airline. Their quotes on the web are really competitive and taking the upgrade only makes them marginally dearer than most other Airlines economy fare.

They are a bit like an overgrown cat with large teeth and go faster stripes down the sides

jml, I visited the Elephant sanctuary (is that how you spell sanctuary?) on my first trip to Pattaya in Feb. It was good and I got some photo's I could show back home! I have written elsewhere about the humidity. I couldn't believe how different it was in June as opposed to Feb. I like doing touristy type things during the day and I found that the current high humidity hard to cope with. It definately stopped me from visiting a number of intended daytime activities

djidji, I presume you are an experienced motorcyclist. I have just got back from my second visit to Pattaya. During my first visit in february, I personally saw two motorcyclists killed during my taxi ride from Bangkok Airport. Last week I turned on the television in the RG and came across the Pattaya news channel. They reported on the three motorcyclists, one English and two Thai, who were killed the day before in the Pattaya area! I mentioned the above whilst in the FLB and was told that was not exceptional. I was also told that some of the rental agencies insurance cover is by no means comprehensive. You could end up paying for a new bike even if you only bend it a little. I would suggest you think very carefully before you hire 2 wheels in Pattaya. The roads in LOS are very scary places! Look after yourself

I too have just got back from staying in the RG for 11 nights. I thought it was first class and it certainly impressed the tg's I brought back. One actually cooked a meal in the kitchen which is more than I would have done! I also thought all the staff were very friendly and always helpful. The night guard for instance always insisted on seeing me across the road safely. I think he thought I was going to get mown down at night! Although it is a little way out (10 min walk at most) there was never any problem in getting a "taxi" which always seemed to arrive within a minute or so of leaving the Hotel. I never used room service but the breakfast was fine and cheap enough. I will definately be booking the RG for my next visit in Feb.

I thought that was reserved for Tottering Grotspurs

I would confirm the comment re the beach below the Cosy Beach Hotel. I stayed in the Cosy Beach during my first visit in Feb and although its a bit too far out from the action the setting is superb and the beach is great. Well supplied with beach bars and the one furthest from the Hotel does a great impression of a British brecky! one week six days and counting

Hi Sarges, I ended my first trip to Los on 16th Feb. My advice would be to get to Pattaya asap. Spend no more than a couple of days in BKK. I had a good time in BKK but Pattaya was great and cheaper. Well I had learnt not to be a walking ATM for tg's by then! I am back on 2nd June and this time I am going straight to Pattaya. If your visit coincides I will be pleased to buy you a cold one. Where are the top soappy places?
jambo replied to exwannabe's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
I visited Sabai Dee during my Newbie visit. Its near Soi1/2. I found it to be clean with the rooms being large and well appointed. A good number of the tg's were lookers and the massage etc was v. good. Overall it was well worth the 1650bt all in price for the experience. [smiley=nod.gif] -
Travel insurance-does anyone bother?
jambo replied to DayShift's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
A couple of years ago I was on a flight that diverted to make an unscheduled landing in Portugal. Someone on the flight had, what I learnt later, was an angina attack. They suspected a heart attack at the time. The family concerned were presented with the bill for the landing etc which came to several thousand pounds - airport costs, refueling, engineer inspection, paramedics, hospital etc. They didn't have travel insurance!![smiley=crying.gif]
