Thanks shooter. The reason for renting is that I will probably be carrying camera kit with me ... having my own car means more freedom to go when and where I want, plus I can leave tripods securely in the boot when unattended. As for the crazy driving - the Brits, Aussies and New Zealands have one big advantage over the Yanks and mainland Europeans - we drive on the same side of the road as the Thais [okay, let me rephrase that, the same side of the road they are supposed to drive on :)). That means that our safety swerve side is the same as theirs in an emergency ie, we go to the lef

Looking at plans for my next trip - I want to hire a car for 4-5 days, maybe longer. Is there a good place for car hire in Pattaya, roughly what costs are involved and is insurance included. I assume my UK licence will not be enough and I will have to carry my international? Are there any pitfalls/scams I need to consider before hiring. TIA Rhoel

I haven't stayed at RG so I can't help on that. 3 weeks ago I stayed at the Flipper Lodge so I'll give you the low down. [i have also stayed at Eastiny Inn]. The first and best thing I will say about Flipper Lodge is that I will be staying there next time. For me, I prefered it to Eastiny, partly because Flipper was less noisy and mainly, it was the little things which impressed: Things like the air-conditioning really worked well(not just the two settings of artic and off), the cable TV feed was better, the Roof pool/bar stayed open later etc. The other things I liked. Now just to prove me wrong, this post line wraps correctly to screen, yet Turbos and Daniel-thinys trip posts don't. ??? Any one eelse notice anything different?

Pete, I have just noticed that todays posts scroll off the edge of my screen, when all posts previously didn't. Have the settings changed or have I a problem on my PC again. (I'm using my 800*600 screen at the moment 'cos the modem on the 1024 machine got hit by lightning and no longer wants to play )

If you don't have any graphics programs, I point people to the IrvanView32 program - its free and has a host of good features, including resize/resample: The latter is better since it uses B-spline formulas which usually give better results (and don't ask about the bicubic mathmatics involved or i'll post the full answer and the matric formula itself ... very very scary stuff ) [and no I don't understand how the f*** it works, it just does and I'm happy with that]. try www.irfanview.com or http://irfanview.tuwien.ac.at/iview375.zip for the fast download. Irfanview also has colou

Thanks guys, The deal was you still fly to BKK just you ahve to wait for a cancellation to come through - the air courier used this system in past .. when I asked KLM they said the system no longer existed. I'm now in Pattaya enjoying the weather [humidity not aas bad as I had expected] and the good deals around ... was on second road last night and drove past line of bars with 0 falangs ... the girls would like to see anyone at present. Thanks again

Just had a note from an air courier who said there was a stand-by deal with KLM at Schipol Airport ... you check in and wait, usually no more than 24 hours unless very busy period. Anyone know anything about this?

Striker/Pete ... it does the same on mine (IE 5.5), but only if I am not logged in ... once I log on, it drops below the top frame/graphic and works perfectly. And I have no suggestion/explanation on this one.

Last trip out I stayed in BankKum [north east BKK] and the Mall had more ATM there than in the UK town where I live now: The first ATM I tried refused the card, the machine next happily accepted it ... moral is to try more than one. This was the only time I ever had with ATM on 3 trips.

Pete, Just a thought ... does the orphange have a direct pay account? I.e., can anyone who wants to make a donation do so directly to the orphage? If so, maybe a permanent page here on the site might be helpful, providing some general background to thier work etc. Also by direct donation, things can be anonomous if people want it that way.

Thanx Hubs, I am looking at joining one of the courier lists so that I can get out to LOS sooner, rather than later - I heard of others using this method so they could have 2/3 trips each year. I have just started my own express delivery [road] company and having the air side might be a positve thing. BTW, I'm based just 12 minutes from Cardiff International Airport - unfortunately, the BA courier flights are from Heathrow. That was why I hoped someone have better/more practical experience of air-couriering to LOS to help avoid any potential pitfalls. I'll check out the URL. Thx ag

Hi Pete, Welcome to the wonderful world of Flash: You have it figured out fine, the kids writing appears as "hand-written". Small vertical shift in second B*W photo (1 pixel vertical "kick" - probably just the difference between keys). But that is sooooooo picky I should be ashamed of myself. I am back online premanently again, so if you need any code breaking or the clock moving to the new BG colours just email. Like the look of the new software too ... probably take everyone a few weeks to exploit the code to the max. Rhoel

Last year on the old board, someone posted a URL for an air courier information site ... and I cannot find the site or the paper with the address. Does anyone have any good insider information or URLs which point to same? TIA. Rhoel I'm back on line again after being without comms for 3 months - life without the net is a terrible place
