  1. i'll be in CM from the 9th to the 12th... maybe we could have a remote flb meet up?
  2. they were 595 TB last year so long as you booked 3 weeks ahead... good planes and reasonably reliable expat community is mostly US servicemen, not saying that's good or bad LOL
  3. I took a standard room for 650TB/night April/May planning to stay 3 weeks. Seemed pretty well organised, fast response to emails and no conditions. Never stayed there before though so we'll have to see.
  4. i just booked the sabai lodge because they were offering low season discounts while the Areca was not. Also the Areca insisted on an up front credit card deposit and full payment 5 days before arrival which i'm not prepared to do. Maybe if you speak to them nicely they will waive this but i tried and they wouldn't have it.... so, they lost my business, not that that willl worry them too much i think LOL
  5. and... if you promise to pay cash on arrival for the full period they wont ask you for a credit card deposit. This is low season after all!
  6. Sabai Inn rates for the upcoming period... Standard room from April 18 to April 30 is 900Bht. And from May 01 to May 07 is 800Bht. Superior room from April 18 to April 30 is 1050Bht. And from May 01 to May 07 is 950Bht. but you need to book direct with the hotel not through an intermediary.
  7. or go just up the road a short walk to All Seasons Place and stay at the Conrad... that will impress her and your Bank Manager too LOL
  8. The hotel next door is the Nai Lert Park, it used to be the Hilton but now i forget the new name a renaissance or something like that. Not cheap maybe $80 a night i think from last time i was there
  9. just for info i picked up a Thai Air direct ticket this morning for outbound April 8 through airliine network for £388 inclusive tax.... seems a decent price to me, plenty left if anyones interested.
  10. i always stay at the Conrad... it's next door and pretty much can't be beat for a quality hotel. your girl will be impressed by the glassed in bathrooms too. Oh, and especially by the free "Chang" they leave on the bed for you (i dunno why but all the bar girls seem to love stuffed animals)
  11. i'm in bkk on evening of the 16th.... travelling down to pty midday on the 17th sure if you want to hook up for a few beers on the 16th i'm up for it, will have been away for 2 weeks before then with my tgf so i think i will be celebrating being a butterfly again LOL
  12. looks like no one needs this room i have spare at the roof garden 16 to 22 december... it's only 750 with no upfront cc deposit just have to reconfirm 2 weeks before arrival i'll cancel it tomorrow so if anyone is interested you could always put your name on the wait list and pick it up then
  13. i was just about to cancel a reservation for a friend of mine at the roof garden inn that he has booked for 16 to 22 december but can't come now so if anyone wants to take it just PM me and we can sort something out. i'll hold onto it for a day or two then and in case anyone is interested
  14. just got off world travellor plus yesterday.... not impressed at all! i don't know why but the seats just feel wrong, found it real hard to sleep and the food is just ok basic stuff, they pretty much leave you alone all the time. I really think EVA evergreen delux is much better and i'm sure it will be cheaper than the BA prices! i won't be choosing ba again if it weren't for the points!
  15. I got EVA direct for December 2nd return Jan 6 through Quest Travel for £505 inc. which was the best i could find.... seem to be selling out fast so i would grab what you can! If you do get there you should let me know coz i could with a bit of guy company to break up all the girl time!
  16. yep on wireless... a couple of 100 mtrs walk to sukomvit and the BTS, and then another 200 to NEP!
  17. Ok hope this post doesn't come through twice, it's the first pic i've tried to attach! Anuway i was looking for some pics of the Conrad but this is all i can find! You've got to look past my "friend" having breakfast LOL maybe someone knows her? anyway you can see some of the exec lounge, they have free broadband inet access too! I'll be there again over Xmas and New Year if anyone is around maybe pick up a few ?
  18. I stayed there for a week in May... no problems taking girls back, sometimes i checked them in sometimes not. Was no problem to take them in exec lounge for breakfast either. In fact it was funny coz a couple of times i saw some european ladies there with thai girls too... and i'm sure they weren't business partners LOL nice hotel.... good position but pricey!
  19. One thing that was funny... when i flew with air asia bkk to Udon in May on the evening flight the cabin crew organised a Kareoke competition aong the passengers over the intercom! LOL it would only happen in Thai! Got to say it is a perfeclty decent flight both ways though on time and good aircraft!
  20. ummm just wanted to add that when i was in the Conrad i had no problem bringing in TG geusts.... i just checked them in at the front desk and back out again after. Took them in the exec lounge for breakfast too! maybe i would have got some funny looks if they had been scruffy but hey in a 5 star who's really going to challenge you about anything? after all.... you are paying top dollar!
  21. Conrad can't be faulted, i was there last week... expensive though i think Rack rate is $240. Last november i was at the Hilton on Wireless Rd which is now a Sofitel and personally i preffered that, a little cheaper and more personal i think.
  22. I don't suppose it helps much but i am in BKK now and planning to make the run down to PTY on Friday 21st the day after you get in.... if you end up staying over in BKK you can drop me a line sure would be fine to share a taxi. Otherwise i'll probably see you in town, i think there is still a party planned on friday in flb?
  23. ummm yeah i wont be there in time for this meeting.... would like to catch up with some of you guys though. Can we fix something up for maybe 21 or 22 May as well?
  24. hmmm do you mean the Thai Airways companion flight from LHR to Bkk? coz you can go with EVA single person for the same price £320 + tax direct LHR to BKK i just booked last week for May!
  25. i'm in town 21 to 28 May but i heard this is about the time that the US Navy exercises close down and the all come on shore.... i know they don't publicise when they will be there but i'm not sure i fancy fighting my way through the bars if they are there... maybe it's better to head back to bkk when they arrive, what do you guys think and is anyone planning to be in town same time as me?
