  1. There is also an ATM right next to the exchange. No wait when I arrived at 1530.
  2. Big Horn Steak House is across 2nd Rd from Mike's Plaza (if I remember right). Don't know about Long Horn.
  3. Sugar Hut (bit more expensive Thai food, but great atmosphere) The Sportsman (English Pub with good burgers and Sunday roast) (Soi 13) New Orleans Restaurant (good BBQ ribs) Steak Boa (good Thai food - good prices) Pink Lady (good cheap menu) Ventienne (awesome selection of foods from SE Asia and Western menu as well) The Lobster Pot (a little down from previous trips, but still good seafood) Ma Maison Hotel (haven't eaten there since Jan 2003, but it was good then) The Parrot Bar (??) on Soi Pattayaland 2 (hearty Mexican food) Also, Pizza from FLB (good lining food to start the n
  4. It was a message from someone to me saying I'd be better off going to the Philippines. Thanks for all the input, I think I understand he was just letting off steam by ending the conversation with something he knew I couldn't translate. (my Thai is almost nil).
  5. Thanks to everyone who gave me advise or otherwise. Turns out Dynasty came up with an availibility after all. All the info was not in vain, however since I'll be considering some of these places on future trips. Thanks again and cheers.
  6. I stayed at Flipper House on my newbie tour. I'd stay there again, but my group is at Dynasty (which is booked). I'd at least like to be near the group, but it doesn't really matter as this will be my 8th trip to PTY and I know my way around a little. Just wanted to know the better of Twin or Sandy as I've never stayed at either and both are available for booking.
  7. Can anyone translate: Chok dee khrup Khun ******, chan pbai norn dee kwaa, nueai nit noi
  8. OK, I've received conformation of availability at both Sandy Springs and Royal Twin Palace Hotel. Which one should I take and why?
  9. hanylek, How much are the rooms and what are the chances of getting a short notice reservation? Seems a lot of rooms are booked now. I have an old reliable hotel to go to, but I'd prefer to stay away from that one this time. Plus, I want to be near the runnin crew. Thanks
  10. I'm trying to make a last minute (one week away) reservation. I couldn't make a reservation at Dynasty Inn were the rest of my group already had reservations. If I remember right those 2 hotels are near each other. Would anyone recommend this hotel? Are they guest friendly? If not, could you suggest another hotel near Soi 13.
  11. I hear ya, cheers on that one!!! Mate!!!
  12. One thing I forgot, during new years, they do not have a lease on where the fire-crackers are set off... be aware!!!
  13. U have your own 'toy', why bring a mechanical one? This is YOUR vacation, have it your way!
  14. That would have been Nixon. Thing is... either way, I forget and still do it. I haven't offended anyone yet, but I know the potential is there if I don't get my act together. DON'T want to be another NIXON.
  15. Probably not much good to you now and a bit outdated (but for those thinking bout it). I flew Turkish Air in 2001 to Thailand. The plane was cramped (like a lot of American airlines are) and the service sucked (like a lot of American airlines are), but it got me from Istanbul to BKK non-stop. I wouldn't rate it as great, but leaving from Adana (in Turkey) and going thought Istanbul was really the best option. On the plus side, I hooked up with an Israeli girl that was as much fun as I had the first couple of nights on my first time tour of Thailand. I know better now, but it was still an exper
  16. Just paid 545 from LHR on thai air, could have gotten cheaper but I wanted the direct flight. I guess I should have shopped around.
  17. OK, this isn't really speach but... I've been in the UK for about 4 months now and can't get over the fact that showing 2 fingers is "flipping someone off" as opposed to ordering 2 TWO that TWO (in ENGLISH) pints.
  18. Myself, I'm headed there this month for a month. I've been there Jan, Mar, Apr, July, Aug, Sept, Oct and Dec. Songkan in April is a different experience... try it once and decide. Oct is probably the best time I had there with July and Aug real close second. Dec/Jan is really nice, but busy. The thing is over christmas/new year some hotel/bars expect a little extra from their customers without really giving much back. The hotel I stayed in required (over christmas and new years) that you pay extra for the festivities, but the party they provided wasn't so great. Don't let this prevent you from
  19. I'd go with the taxi after exitting the airport. It's cheaper, but sometimes the line can be long. Other methods are a bit complicated unless you are truly adventureous. Once you get there, you don't have to worry about the rest... it's all there!!!
  20. Sullo, Good to see you here. I possibly know someone, but could you provide the dates the service will be needed. This will be a private child care service, so I'm not sure if this is what your friend is looking for. The person in mind is my wifes sister. She works during the day, so only night time service would be available. BTW, I recall you from the AC board and I think me may have actually met once quite briefly in AC.
