Hi clubman, It kinda surprises me too. I have visited the Pattay 'Monkeyhouse' and a large jail in BKK so I am amazed anyone does anything wrong! Amazingly, people still deal in drugs in LOS! Even some really dumb Farangs. Yet It was only a year or so ago that the dealers were simply shot on site. I would worry if I parked on a double yellow line! I kinda looked into this once. The basic cost of the boat and engine (the same as the ones they use between the islands etc) was about £3000 GBP including the engine and trailer. I understand that you can launch from pretty much anywhere without any type of licence, well you could in 1990! Hi Ranger, Thai airways are a good airline but tend to rely on a reputation built in the 80's and 90's. With regard to legroom, I think they have one of the best economy pitches in the sky at 34" (BA is 30-31") They are in the process of updating on-board services and the newer aircraft are very nice with modern comfortable seats. Clearly the guest policy has changed here! I think 'bullshit'(Thanks hotforever! ) was a bit strong though, perhaps mistaken, or misinformed would have been a politer way to put it. After all, its only money and 3500 is currently only about £50 which for a two hour journey seems reasonable to me. The same trip in the UK would cost me £150. I blew 65K (GBP) in 18 months in LOS. Its funny how all those multiple bedroom romps add up. But i did have the time of my life with no expense spared. I had a 4 bed house in Jomtien, a nicish car and more slippery chicken than you could shake a stick at. Pattyayhappy.

I have been travelling to LOS for many years and because I don't worry too much about money I usually book a taxi in the arrivals hall at BKK airport. I use Thai Limousines which I think may be affiliated to Thai Airways and I have paid as much as 3500 baht one way to Pattaya. I read that many people spend between 1000 and 1600 baht. Are the cars OK? I kinda like my luxuries so a nice Merc or a new Lexus is what I look for. All thoughts suggestions are gratefully recieved. Pattaya, (and for that matter the rest of Thailand) shuts bars etc on some days (bans the sale of alcohol) particularly when they vote etc. Its kind of strange when they do, cos Pattaya with no beer is like brighton on a wet Tuesday in February. Obviously, what actually happens is quite different and you won't have any trouble getting a beer. I am a jolly light sleeper and I have stayed at the Sabai Lodge when they were building the new bit;it can be very annoying. Solution Go chemist, get tablet for sleep (try alprazolam) take tablet at bed time 3-4 am put in ear plugs,(you get given the nice soft ones on the aeroplane) plenty good sleep till about 2.30 pm! no problem. 2.30 pm, coffee, boom boom, bars. The quickest way is to get in a car and drive(m25 permitting) but there are regular busses between LGW, STanstead And LHR so you shouldn't have a problem getting between the two airports within say 21/2 hours? As for trains- haven't gotta clue. BR
