A friend of mine stayed there but wouldn't again as the rooms on the first floor are very noisy as they are directly above the nightclub, he did mention it to one of the managers who told him they had a special sound proof coating but all he could see on the walls was paint Also the stairs are very narrow and there is no lift , not much fun climbing up and down stairs also there is no in room phone system which is a bad thing for a place that markets itself as an upmarket type hotel. Another thing that worried my friend as when he stayed there, there seemed to be fight between two of the

Niall, i'll second that i think China Dynasty class about the best value around at the moment if the price of around £900 is within some ones budget. Its slightly more than Eva's premium economy but in my view far better and i also think its better than Thai business class which is a lot lot more. Obviously some people prefer a non stop flight, but China is definately my favourite if i don't take a non stop flight. Tiss.

I think Eva have put up their base price slightly, but the main reason in the jump in their price is the big hikes in the airport tax and other charges added to Heathrow flights in the last year or so. This has obviously affected other airlines prices as well. Tiss.

torrenova, as previous poster mentioned stamboy coud have visa problems if the ticket is for himself. As you show your self as being in Thailand i assume you are on a non immigrant visa? in which case no problem but assuming stamboy is on a tourist visa or 30 day one on entry many airlines will not allow him to check in as he does not have the return or onward ticket required for his type of visa. Gus theres a Phuket air 747 still at Gatwick and looks a bit of a sorry state. Appears to have been impounded by BAA. Tiss

Floyd, yes i agree Penny Black is a good choice for people wanting a budget hotel. Obviously very handy for Cowboy and handy for the BTS and MRT for getting around. Rooms comfortable and quite spacious as well for the price. Just for the record though its next to Rawhide not Long Gun. Tiss.

I stay at the Sabai Lodge quite regularly and never pay the rate on the website. As others have said they are nearly always ready to make a reduction in their room rates. Tiss

Eddie, depends on the airline and the time of year. But this time of year its likely to be 17,000-21,000 baht on one of the arab airlines or 27,000-30,000 baht (including tax) on the likes of Thai or Qantas etc. Although some agents may have the direct airlines a bit cheaper than that. Tiss

Gus, don't worry about the engines on a 777. Each one has the same thrust as 2 engines on a 747. One of the Boeing flight test 777's was parked on a stand near our office at London Gatwick last weekend and looked very nice. Tiss.

Stamboy, you can sometimes pick up good deals on various airlines at various times of year. But without doubt the best deals year after year are from the end of april to about the middle of june. So may is a very good time to go. I went myself in may on Qantas for £313 inc tax. But that was only on sale for 4 days a few weeks before hand. I had a spare seat next to me going out and 3 seats to myself coming back. A mate of mine went the same day but just missed out on the Qantas deal and paid £380 inc tax on Thai. But I've been many times before at that time of year on other airlines e.g. £3

Only stayed 1 night as i was on the way to Bangkok, but i found it a pleasant hotel and the reception staff like wise. The room was fine also. Can't comment on how "guest" friendly it is as i was with the wife. Tiss.

BKK - Amari Atrium - £31 sounds like a bargain
tiss replied to stamboy's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
stamboy, the Amari Atrium is not guest friendly if you take a girl back rather than check in with one they will hit you with a big joiner fee. I personally would'nt stay at a hotel that charges a joiner fee out of principle. No problem at the Amari Boulevard if you pay the corporate rate and a far better location IMHO? However they might also charge if you get it as part of a flight/hotel package. Cheers tiss.
