I have always stuck with IBM ThinkPad (now Levano) because I have always found them to be the most rugged and reliable. Not cheapest, and not always with the latest cool features, but reliable, reliable, reliable. And when I travel, that's what I care most about. I bought mine at PonTip Plaza in Bangkok earlier this year. The shop I got it at pre-loaded everything under the sun for me (ahem) and was very generous about maintenance. No regrets.

Nicely done. Thanks. Something to look forward to in my retirement. ;-)

free calls to LOS from USA
BenMajor replied to aceswild1917's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
The service is from a company called FuturePhone. The service is free until 2010. A bunch of articles say they don't currently support calls to cellphones, but guys here say they've done it. -
The Times, Oct 6 2006 This year Ig Nobel Prize in Medicine goes to... “Termination of Intractable Hiccups with Digital Rectal Massage” -- Majed Odeh, Harry Bassan, and Arie Oliven for their subsequent medical case report.... WHEN a young man walked into the accident and emergency department of University Hospital in Jacksonville, Tennessee, complaining of hiccups that had lasted three days, Francis Fesmire, who treated him, had little idea he was about to make medical history. Yesterday, the American doctor’s innovative solution to the problem — an uncomfortable one that you m

Just keep in mind that happy stories are generally not written and don't sell, so the "truth" is not fully represented...I, for one, would be interested in knowing any facts from the book that stuck with you.

If you had to move from Thailand where would you go and why?
BenMajor replied to sinkorswim's topic in Expat Issues
Don't have an answer, but a little concerned for my future consideration that you don't feel welcome in LOS. I assume it's more than just the ability to own land yourself. If you don't mind sharing, can you describe more about why you want to leave? Maybe would help others pick an alternative for you more accurately? -
The title of this thread is Books on Thailand, so I won't restrict a recommendation to just the book on Sex in LOS. Consider the book The King Never Smiles. Came out in July. Not light reading, but very informative. For those that have some time on their hands...You can search the contents of the book at Amazon.

FYI, I haven't been getting this error anymore the past few night. So whatever you did, thanks!

Duh, sorry, I found previous posts on this. I searched before but realize I didn't select to search all the threads first, so didn't find anything. QorToat!

To the left of each post is a short stat on the member, and one entry listed is "Member Group." For most members it says "Members", but for some, like myself, it says "SSG-Members". What does "SSG" mean? Is there any practical difference between someone who is marked "Member" vs. "SSG-Member"? Thanks

I've heard some U.S. gents talk glowingly about cost of living and quality of life in Costa Rica...but if you like SE Asian Women, that wouldn't do, would it. -

I have a very fast broadband connection and a very fast computer. New version is defintely slower. Looks like the addition of some new features, slower code or database has slowed it down considerably. Maybe there is some ways to performance-tune some admin settings with Invision's help?
