Non-smoking hotel rooms
deanjames replied to BritMonkey's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Your gonna stink of smoke everytime you go home at night anyway so I cant really see the point! -
I've had bikes for years and have had two serious accidents in england, After all that my experiences in thailand on bikes confirmed i'd never get one again in Pats or England. While i was in Pattaya this week I had a call from my Auntie and my 17 year old cousin had a motorbike accident in Bournemouth and has so far lost one leg and possibly the other soon. Shes a stunning girl and now will never be the same. She hasnt woken up yet so doesnt even know about the leg. The guy driving the bike done a runner and was supposed to be a close freind of hers, Once we find him if I have my way he'll have a lot worse than just lose a leg. Here's the article from the BBC website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/4776276.stm I love bikes and always will but my advice is stick to track use and stay off the roads. They are lethal.

Thanks for the info. I called Thai and they said at present only Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening flights are stopping over. She also said the BAA have notified them that next week only one flight would need to stop, this is subject to change though. Thank god i'm flying saturday morning :)

Another suicide at the Tiffany Shooting Range
deanjames replied to deanjames's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Interesting update on the Tiffany Shooting Range Suicide. We now update you on the story we ran on yesterdays show regarding the suicide shooting at the Tiffany Shooting Range in North Pattaya. His correct name and age is Mr. Ronald Joseph Meloy aged 62 from America. We have found out that he worked as an English Language teacher for a small private academy in Naklua according to his work permit. Around the end of December he was alleged to have shown sexually explicit photographs to his students aged between 12 and 13. Last Wednesday he was released from his job because of that unexplained incident. We received this information from the American Embassy who have in-turn forwarded the details to the Police. -

I've used that range, Its underground. They have about 6 shooting booths (open backed) with paper targets and one open plan area on the right for shooting wooden bottles etc. They have a wide range of guns, I used several automatics, semi-automatics and a revolver. They also have rifles If I remember rightly. These places will get shut down soon if this happens again, theres also an open air shooting range somewhere in pattaya. -

yeah at least take the gun in the bogs and do it or something, why did he have 50,000 baht on him?! -
Another lost soul On December 12th last year we reported on a suicide at the Tiffany Shooting Range where a German man used a hired pistol and shot himself in the head. On Tuesday afternoon at around 3.30pm it happened again. This time an American man, using a revolver shot himself in the side of the head. Police Lieutenant Colonel Omsin from Pattaya Police Station was assigned to the case and removed the gun from the shooting range as evidence. Once again we were not permitted to film inside the Shooting Range. What we do know is that the dead man is Mr. Ronas Joseph Merrow aged 63 from America and the incident happened at Booth number 9. The smartly dressed man arrived at the range and rented a 38mm revolver. He finished one pack of bullets and asked his supervisor to bring another packet for him. He loaded the gun with six bullets, fired the first one and then turned the gun on himself and pointed the gun at his right ear and pulled the trigger. His body was removed from the scene and taken to the morgue at Banglamung Hospital. His personal possessions including 50,000 Baht in cash which he was carrying in his pocket are now in the possession of the Sawang Boriboon Foundation awaiting collection by the American Embassy who will now conduct an investigation into the matter.

Just every element of the flight was wrong. The staff were rude and wouldnt serve drinks, one hostess told me they only had 4 bottles of mineral water for the whole economy section of the plane when I asked for more water. beer and spirits ran out within minutes. The food was like nothing i've ever seen, starter on the the way out was a gherkin pinned to a slice of tomato by a cocktail stick and the main course was a chicken curry which had absolutley not one bit of meat it was just skin, gristle and fat. Seating was first come first served, somebody had allready nicked my seat by the time I got there and was fast asleep. I did try to wake him up and he just took another swig from his whiskey bottle and fell back to sleep. Later on in the flight he kept falling on me and putting his hand on my leg etc which was quite scary! He was actually a nice fella from india going back to see his family but no manners! People were asleep on the floor in front of their seats and in the isles cradling bottles of vodka and the like, quite funny but not if you know what I mean. The seats were tiny and i'm not a big fella (68kgs 5ft 8) the pitch was dead upright, actually they almost felt almost like they were leaning forward.... toilets were covered in piss, I walked into one half way through the flight with no shoes on not realising. wet piss feet for the rest of the journey. yuk! 2 irish men were fighting and abusing other passengers, also singing really loudly and the attendants turned a blind eye to it. After they woke me up for the 10th time of got up and threatened to kill them both (was quite distressed at this point) and they shut up for about ten minutes and then started again. At which point another man much heavier built than me done the same and the shut up for about half an hour and started fighting again. They were so pissed they shouldnt have been allowed on the flight. i'm suprised they got into the terminal to be honest. Tashkent airport is a cross between a graveyard for old russian planes and a concentration camp. I did wonder if I was being herded off for execution at one point. Nobody knew what was going on. Watching out the window, almost every car driving round the airport was an old Lada. not seen them in a while! Taxing down the runway was funny seeing planes simlar to the one i was riding in but with missing engines, windows, wings etc! It was minus 15 when we landed and i was in tracksuit bottoms and a tshirt, everything else was in my case (my own fault I know) I was dressed for bangkok.... No entertainment, not even a magazine. Next year i'll do the sensible thing and book early!! my brother booked his xmas flights about 4 months before. they had doubled by november. The View Talay limo driver waiting for me when I came out of customs was like a shining light. He managed to get me to pattaya in an hour and a half and safely. Big tip for him. I was out on the piss on xmas eve by 11.00pm (landed BKK at 8.15) For the money at that time of year I cant complain as every other airline was double the price or more so It served a purpose. Thank buddah i'm alive and yes it was still worth it to have such a great time in Pattaya. :) -
