I have browsed the reviews but didn't find a comparison between the Sabai Inn and Sabai Lodge, and I dont know if it was ever discussed on the board.

I have stayed at the Lodge, not the Inn. From the reviews, it seems that the Inn is newer, costs less than the Lodge, is equally guest friendly and is rated higher. The drawback is lack of pool. But there still seems to be a preference for the Lodge ... Does anyone have a quick perspective?

Thanks.

I have stayed at both hotels:

Sabai Inn is friendlier and quieter than Sabai Lodge and rooms are slightly better. Sabai Lodge does have the swimming pools but guests at Sabai Inn have free access anyway. Have experienced aircon problems at Sabai Inn but it was soon fixed. They are both good value - you just need to decide wheteher you want a big busy hotel with all the amenities or a quiet friendly hotel wuth amenites just across the road.

I would think that with the addition of the new Ruenthai wing at Sabai Lodge it would give that place the edge over it's cousin Sabai Inn. Also, I have read that the cottages at the Sabai Lodge are quite appealing. For me, the location is very good indeed.

The Sabai Group markets the Lodge as a resort hotel and the Inn as a boutique hotel, a distinction that seems to work for them. They appear to have big plans for the refurbishment of The Weekender (some of the Lodge staff will move there) and it will be interesting to see what standard the refurbishment brings the place up to. Location wise it would be hard to beat. :beer

Personally, I prefer the Inn, especially in the more humid months, where I can enjoy sport on TV, snooker or pool and of course afternoon tea in air-conditioned comfort.

I guess I'm paranoid, but I just figure if the place catches on fire the Sabai Lodge would be the best place to be, as it's only two stories. Even if I were on the second floor a jump out the window wouldn't kill me. Aside from that I'd still stay at the Sabai Lodge again. The only negative is that room service doesn't operate all night. One time that ticked off one of my guests.

Have just made reservation at the Sabai Lodge. They offered Deluxe A for 1250, I am staying 11 nights. For longer stays you can even negotiate down more.

FunIsAll,

BTW, did you make your reservation through their website, and give your credit card info. I know that some are reluctant to do this, so I am curious how you handled it.

Please post your comments about the Sabai Lodge after you complete your stay. I am considering staying there next trip. Thanks.

Reservation was made via email with no deposit after a friend who lives in Pattaya checked the rooms.

Will certainly share my experiences with this hotel. BTW, will stay there in October.

Board,

Reserved a Deluxe Cottage Room on Dolphin Pool at Sabai Lodge for 1,250 B a night for 15 nights during September 2004.

Reserved via e-mail, and no deposit. Sabai Lodge staff were very efficient in returning e-mails and reverifying reservations.

Will provide room, pool, and bar photos in trip report late September.

2 days and a wake-up ;)

Bill

No matter which of the two Sabai's you pick make sure to check out the Welkom Inn (nextdoor to the Inn and across the Soi from the Lodge). Great place to take meals and the beergarden on the Soi 3 side has an excellent atmosphere and some nice girls.

The Sabai Lodge saved my bacon on my last trip. I had booked another hotel (not to be named -- oh screw it. This is hotel info....Peace Resort) and when I arrived there at two in the morning after 22 hours of travel they had no reservation for me. Even after I showed them my confirmed internet booking. What to do?

I remembered reading about the Sabai Lodge and figured it wasn't but a few blocks away. When I got there they happily showed me a room and I liked it. The bellhop was very accommodating. He said, "Mr. Slobbert, I think you need lady to relax after your hard trip." How could I argue with that?

I had a great stay with Sabai Lodge. Any problems I had were minor and taken care of promptly. The staff was friendly, great location near the major massage parlors, Soi 2 beer bars and Big C mall. My only beef was the controls for the lights, air con and TV remote are on one control box on the night stand. Kinda awkward sometimes.

I'll stay there my next trip.

Wbill, I'd be curious to know how you like the deluxe cottage room. Hope to hear from you.
