Chang Mai Guest Friendly Hotel

Hi All,

 

Looking for recent info on Hotels in Chang Mai. Last time I stayed in a small guest friendly hotel on neat Thaipai (sp) gate. Darned if I can remember the name. Anyone have recent experience in CM with decent friendly hotels?

I know that some morons will jump this statement but I think a VERY large majority of hotel in CM are cool with the darlings. Some of the Spa places are probably not open but I can tell you the the Shearton is no problem. You should have no problem finding a cool hotel at your desired rate.

I would guess that all the hotels inside the old city are open as well. CM is not Sanukville but there are also alot less punters.

I have been staying at the Tamarind Village which is a nice village style accomodation in Chiang Mai Their rack rate is about 120 US per night in a superior room but at the Chiang Mai Hotel Travel website it is currently offered from 41 USD - they also have some good offers on other chiang mai hotels, at least the last time when i checked. Chiang Mai is the second largest city in Thailand and therefore it is a very lively city at day and at night.

I stayed at the Montri, it was right next to the Tha Phae Gate. Around 1000bt

Stayed at the Porn Ping centrally located just off the night market. Guest friendly, I think I payed around 1000 baht last April.

Agree with livermore, Pornping is a good choice. Will stay there end of October for 900 incl. Breakfast in a deluxe room (special promotion as the said). Another plus is Bubbles disco located in the basement of the hotel. Many good looking free lancers and massage girls looking for some extra money to be found there. The 100 Baht entrance fee - including one drink - is worth to be spent! Info on the hotel here.

Royal Princess, right in the heart of town, good breakfast, girl friendly, nice pool. 2000 baht a night from directrooms.com
