Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

Kingsknight,

The agent that Jim posted is good and here are a couple more that may help. Right now even the hotels are slow getting back because of all the bookings for the Christmas high season.

pattayahotel

hotelthailand

I have used both in the past and they have been good on answering replys in the past.

Hope this helps,

Have used Asiatravel several times with no problems, and better rates than contacting the hotel directly.

Last holiday in November 2004, used this company

The rates were even better than Asiatravel, but you do have to prepay by credit card.

Next time you are in town/country, find a local travel agent and sit down and have a talk. Find one who you can give your business to regularly, including tours and reconfirming air tickets. Then when you are in your home country you can e-mail or call him/her for reservations or whatever. I used to do that when I had an agent in BKK, but she gave up her business when she latched onto a farang. And never had to prepay. Since I have a condo now I don't have the hotel worry.

I have used both Directrooms.com and sino.net. Both have been able to get me rooms for 20-50% less than the prices booking directly on the hotels website. The problem with them is that It takes 24-36 hours for them to get back to you on a room. (typical of a lot of web-based discount agencies) If you are trying to book on short notice it can be very frustrating. If you are booking more than 3 weeks out then the delay is no big deal. Problem is the rooms are prepaid and non refundable. (but direct rooms allowed me to cancel and use the credit for a different stay later) :beer <grin

I don't see any point dealing with an agent. I stay at the flipper lodge, and they always e-mail me back confirmation, usually the next day and they don't ask for a deposit.
