Don't stay there small dark rooms, no safe, not TG friendly, no pool, to much building noise on Soi 13, very expensive, laundry 200 baht for t shirt, no lift

Shit someone has to put em off or we will never get in.

butterfly69,

The Sandy Spring does have 'safety boxes' located behind the receiption desk. You get a key and must be used with the hotel key to open the box. The boxes are in full sight of the counter. I haven't had any problems or have heard of anyone having a problem with this setup.

As far a pictures of the rooms and more information go to the 'hotel review' section of the board or log on to the Sandy Spring website. They show photos of the rooms. Room photos

I arrive at the Sandy Spring on April 11th. Hope this helps,

I've never really understood people that insist on in the in room safe. I don't think it's any more secure than the safe at the front desk, perhaps even less. I'm sure any of the staff could steal out of the boxes at the front desk or any of the staff could enter your room when you're gone and steal out of your in room safe. There's gotta be some secret code or key to get into the room safe in the event you have forgotten the code/lost your key and the staff knows what it is. Even the cleaning lady probably knows what it is.

Dishonest employees are going to find a way to get into your belongings regardless of where the safe or box is located. B)

I've always used the boxes at the front and have never had a problem with any hotel. Some people use 'in room safes' as the main criteria in deciding what hotel in which to stay. That's just silly.

I thought the noise on soi 13 has settled down? Yes ? no? B)

There's nothing "silly" about preferring an in-room safe. Many hotels with safe deposit boxes at the reception counter have restricted access to only certain hours; usually no access late at night or early in the morning. If you need access to your stored items for any reason during this period, even an unplanned early check-out, you're out of luck.

An in-room safe is far more convenient, especially for securing items while a TG is present, not necessarily for protection from hotel employees. While hotel management no doubt has a universal code or key that provides access to in-room safes, it's pure speculation to think such access is available to any cleaning maid.

Didn't say it was silly to prefer an in room safe. I don't think people should use an in room safe as their only criteria in the selection of the hotel, but some people do. Just my opinion. A lot of people prefer an in room safe and no doubt they are more convenient but I got the impression the original poster was concerned more about security than convenience as he was wondering about monies and/or passport being taken from the hotel safe at the front desk. My thoughts are that in room safes are no more secure than the lock boxes at the front desk and of course it's speculation about the cleaning staff having the code to get into the room safe. Unless you catch someone red-handed one can only speculate about who takes your valubles. :D

Room quite clean and the bed is quite ok. However, don' stay on the first floor and near the lift as it is very noisy when the worker doing the cleaning downstair.

Ask for extra towel as the bath room always flooded with water when bathing beacuse of poor workmanship, not sure whether they have rectified it.

Another alternative is Dynasty Inn which is next to Sandy and is sllighly cheaper. If you book two days or more, they will provide free transport from Dynasty Inn, Bangkok to this hotel. The mini van usually leave Dynasty In Bangkok at 11 am and go straight to this hotel, it is very fast and convenient. (It usauuly take about 1 1/2 ). FYI I was very lucky to have the whole van (quite new) with my GF during my first trip to this hotel.

You can also book through www.scandibar. com for these two hotel as it is cheaper and you can have a free bear every day during your stay.

Good Luck
