I’ll be spending the first night of my Feb. trip in BKK. Because of ease of access to the expressway and the close proximity to my TGF’s house I am considering this hotel. I plan to book a double room to avoid a possible joiner fee :chogdee .

Has anyone stayed there (all of the usual questions especially guest/girl friendly) 1luv ?

Thanks!

Bill

The only Novotel in bkk that I have heard is NOT guest friendly is Siam Square. I'll be spending a week at Novotel Lotus (soi 33) in early March. All the info I got on Lotus sounds good, except there is one night clerk with an attitude who will try and hit you for a joiner, I've been told to ignore him.

Oh.... best web rates I found were at siam.net, anyone find better?

Unless you really need to be close to your GF's home I would not recommend the Novotel Bangna. There is nothing within walking distance and with the construction at bangna highway it will take you an hour to get into the city. One good thing its a short taxi ride to Seri Center and Secon Square 2 big shoping centers

Hi Bill,

I fully agree with Asiaexpat. Unless you really want/need to be close to your GF's house, I wouldn't stay in Bangna. Nothing of interest (expect a few good restaurants) within walking-distance. Seacon Square is a great place for shopping, but I guess that's all to explore overthere. And without a bit knowlegde of Thai language it can be hard also. Count about an 1 hour taxi-drive to Siam-Square or Pratunam-area.

My GF lives near Lotus Bangna (same area). And believe me that Bangna-Trad Road drives you crazy after a while when taking taxi (or bus) all the time to "downtown" BKK.

Distance isn't that far, but the traffic-jams make it worse. One heavy rain-shower and the traffic is a totally chaos with all the construction-work going on there right now.

Tweety.

Guys,

Thanks for your input, its really appreciated. If I do stay there it’ll only be one night from about 2:00 am (if my plane arrives on time) until noon. Then off to Pattaya. I understand about the traffic we’ve gone this route through to the Expressway and on to Pattaya on the last 3 trips and even at 1:30 am the traffic is unbelievable.

Cheers, :D

Bill

Btw if anyone’s interested here’s the URL:

ShadowDweller,

I stayed at Lotus last January for a week. No problem on guests. During the day no one cares, take two up. After 10:00 pm a suited security guy sits at a little desk before you get to the elevators. He will take TG's ID and give you a call in the morning when she picks it up.

I would start at the farthest bar away from Sukhumvit and work your way back to the Lotus. If you don't find something that sparks your interest you can get on the Sky Train and head to Cowboy or Nana.

If you can make it down Soi 33 and cross the street you'll find Washington Square.
