Elevated road parallell with Walking Street?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I read this post on nanaplaza.com

"One reason I think they might be selling is the fact that an elevated road is planned to run parallel with Walking Street. The path of the road is supposed to be through the back half of most of the buildings located on the bay side!!!

This way they can connect Beach Road with some other road (I can't remember the name of it) on the other side of Pattaya. They then plan on closing Beach Road to automobile traffic."

Is this correct?

Cheers

Plans have been drawn up for it already, whether it will happen is another matter.

There's alot of speculation about the proposed plans and lots of rumours flying around, I believe something will happen but the truth is nobody (around here anyway) knows. :banghead

:D

Without wishing to be disrespectful to the people of Thailand, agreeing a plan and actually carrying it out are two different things in LOS! :D

There was a big discussion for years (probably still going on somewhere) about having a Casino on Koh Larn or some such nonsense. It still hasn't materialised.

Dont hold your breath for the new road, my guess is that the improvements and new road promised will be a long time coming.

Just my two bahts worth.

Thanks guys, that explains why I after more than 25 trips to Pattaya in 6 years never heard anything about that.

Casinos can't open as gambling is illegal, but TGF was invited to buy land in Pattaya 2-3 years ago, a month or so before the governor announced his plans to build a casino in Pattaya. The government had plans for building casinos in 3 cities but not in Pattaya - I'm not sure where but I guess Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket? But still the law is not changed so it will take long - if something happen....... :rotflmao

Latest rumor has it that the same company that designed the BKK subway system wants to do the same in Pattaya. One proposed route has the subway going up Beach Rd continuing up Walking Street and that one of the stations will be located where the FLB is.
