England VS Northern Island

Recommended Posts

Well the football has just finished and England have strolled to an easy victory over a very average international side. England just had to much class and it was obvious it was going to shine through in the end. A pleasing site to see was that of Joe Cole who recently has been playing brilliant with Chelsea and today continued that good form with England.

One of the funniest things for me was when the English fans started chanting to the Northern Irish players '' Are you Scotland is disguise''. That obviously made me get on my phone and text some of my Scottish mates and I think it is quite clear the kind of reply I received from them!

All in all pleasing victory for England, bring on Azebajan on Wednesday at the shite home of football St James Park.

I hadn't realised this before today but the reigning home football champions are none other than Northern Ireland. Unfortunately, like Scotland, they have since lost their way since then.

I only watched the first half today and England were so superior in every department that it was a major surprise that the first half was goalless. England were expected to win, and to win comfortably, so the end result of 4 - 0 is no real surprise. England should win comfortably on Wednesday night, Poland having just thrashed their opponents on that night 8 - 1!

Scotland have shown a vastly improved performance tonight and have just lost

2 - 0 to a superior Italian side, with both goals coming from free kicks. Still, it was an encouraging performance with some hope for the future, though fuck all chance of qualifying for the World Cup in 2006. Walter Smith should now concentrate on building a team that can qualify for the European Championships in 2008.

international football in these islands is dying a quick death the players dont play for England they play for money! man u players for some reason are so dumb they dont even know the naional anthem or the tune, personally i would not play any player who is ignorant of his heritage, i couldn,t give a fuck if he was the best player in the world, get rid..

Look back at Greece in the euro,s remember a player or 2? played for pride and won! simple really fuck the tacticts play for where your heart belongs as america does in the world series, what country beats them? :beer :lovee

It was like watching Alfreton town v Chelsea, how can you judge a game with teams so far apart in class as good?

2 deflected goals, and i know we were dominant, but lets not start getting excited about that result, men against boys, thw bookies dont make you 8 2 1 on for nothing!

Scotland were well organised and had a much better second half after a first half which reminded me of a couple of films:

1. The Alamo

2. Zulu

On the other hand, Italy look a mere shadow of their sides of old. Unless they improve dramatically I wouldn't worry too much if England meet them at some stage in the World Cup.

Scotland had one glorious chance to score and it had to fall to an ex- Hibbee!

Find the goal? Kenny Miller couldn't find his arsehole without a map! 1luv

Winston, are you a Forest fan?

I thought it was a good performance and Sven's record is second to none. Don't forget, when he took over we always struggled to qualify for tournaments, that's now a distant memory. I'm happy with any tournament where we can get to the semi's or quarter finals. Remember, it's a lottery after that.

Up the Rams!

I agree I think Sven has done a decent job and revived England to the team that they once were. All we need is alittle bit of luck to fall our way in the Quarters and Semi's of these major tournaments. For example if Rooney did'nt get injured I feel that we would have gone onto win the game against Portugal easily in Euro 2004. Also the goal that was disallowed for pushing, which is a disgrace because it should have counted.Again in the last world cup against Brazil that speculative ''shot'' from Ronaldino that lobed Seaman, alittle bit more luck and that would'nt have gone in.

Yes Northern Island are a poor side but all u can do is beat these poor sides inorder to progress to the finals of these tournaments. I think that we have a great chance in next years world cup. These days there r alot of ageing international sides and we have a youthful one which can only help us. We have a great chance in bringing glory to our nation.

As for England performance I think it was a professional one, they did the jobs they were told to do and we kept possession well. And we always looked a threat going forward and defensively with Rio Ferdinand and John Terry at the back we looked very strong and capable of keeping a clean sheet.

Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

In all seriousness Sven is ok up to a point, but is failling badly when it comes to having to change things, the game against brazil the best example when we did not get a shot on goal against ten men, and his biggest crime is sticking with players on reputation alone, even when they are out of form, David Beckham was a classic example in the last tourniment, he was shite! but he still persevered with him.

BT, admittedly, he made a mistake in the Brazil game but he has managed 50 games in all. I don't know the exact figures but I think he's lost only 2 or 3 competitive games in all that time. He must be doing something right.

yeah, but look at the games he has lost?

you only need to lose one game and you are out of the tournament.

At the end of the day he has won/done nowt.

I just think he is not the man for the job, he is the highest paid manager in the game, and i think the F.A would have got rid of him by now if not for the compensation they would have to pay him.

Darius Vassel is another example, he stuck with him even though he did not score for villa in about 14 games, he was still picking him on rep alone.

Who would you have as manager?

I don't think McLaren (ex-Derby) has the pedigree or the track record. Mourinho would be a good choice (ready for the flames). I can't see any English managers who have the pedigree apart from Curbishley.

Easy to knock Man U (Manchavster U.)

But bear in mind their recent success was based on a team with local talent. Two Nevilles (OK, one's a nuff), Scholes, Beckham (twat). Throw in Keane (thug) and Giggs and you have a team that at least plays UK players. And the recent big buys were Ferdinand, Rooney and Smith (and Heinze, who can't even pronounce his own name)

Remember when Chelsea under Vialli fielded a team with NO English players?

As wellcome as a win is, it was a bit of a hollow victory, we have just about put a British team out of the Cup. With Wales and Scotland losing, it will be down to us and S. Ireland to carry the flag.

As patriotic as I am, the addition of the Scots, Welsh and N.Ireland fans in Germany next year, would have made it more interesting for me. Instead they will all be relegated to watching the games in the pubs and clubs, cheering Englands opposition. It is becoming a way of life now.

Yesterday must have seen the least English Prem' players, playing against England.

:P

Isn't that half the fun knowing they're as sick as f**k not having a team there?

Tabmule, we Scots are getting used to not qualifying for the World Cup and European Championships these days. :eyecrazy :banghead . There's always the 2008 European Championships, though there is still an outside chance that Scotland could finish 2nd in their group.

I do seem to recall, however, that England failed to qualify for at least 2, if not 3 World Cups in succession not so many years ago. :kissing Still, unless they fuck up against Poland (hmm ....... this has happend before

Eneukman, I think once your kids come good you'll have no problem qualifying. Just a matter of time.

That'll be never then Tabmule - as I don't have any kids :banghead

Maybe by the time my great-nephew is old enough to play for his country though. :P

BTW, he's not quite 2 years old. B)
