thai airways and mileage accrual

Recommended Posts

like many of you guys i normally fly thai, from uk and im in royal orchid plus for the mileage, but from june 1st mileage in economy on V and W class codes wont be eligible for mileage accrual? what a bummer! as the last 2 times (christmas and march) i went i flew on a W class economy ticket- both bought from east west travel, so it looks like thai want us to fly out on a Y class economy ticket (with 110% of mileage accrual) and im guessing Y class will cost us more!?

hi i got it out of their last newsletter (march-may 2005). so i guess it has to be right! it will be a shame though cos as you say they have good flight times i went out a few weeks ago and i forgot to mention ! but!until august 15th 2005 they have a "promotion" so a one way up-grade uk-bangkok or vice versa! now is only 32,000 miles instead of the usual 40,000! so i came back on business last week for 32,000 miles! i hope to go again in october so im on the look-out for cheap fares!

Hello Guys, this is my first post. Like you i'm a frequent flyer with Thai, in February i booked a round trip, Lhr Bkk, classes V & W for this coming June.

As you say Thai have changed the rules starting June 1st, i think to get a Y

booking you have to deal direct with Thai, the cost of this class is usually

around £600 with tax. I payed £400 for mine.

So whilst it's disappointing not to be accrueing miles we've got our discount

up front with the price of the tickets. My last trip in Feb cost me £570 and

that time the booking class was Q. I'll continue flying with Thai as i like the

service leg room ect, but in the future i think if i've got the choice i'll take the

V & W booking, if you come 3 times a year like me it works out cheaper than

paying to accrue 65,000 miles.
