  1. I think the place that you are looking for is Yorkies Platter in Jomtien, it's a Restaurant but also a English type butchers shop. The bloke is an expat butcher from yorkshire they have sausage, proper back bacon, pies, and stuff, i can't remember the nearest Soi number, but i do recall there was a sea food Restaurant nearby called Nang Nual. PS it is on the sea front.
  2. Thanks jesper i'll bear that in mind for another time but i'm fixed up now at jasmine, maybe i'll pop over during my trip and check the place out.
  3. Hi, after reading the review by matrix on addicts i quite fancied staying there also, i sent a booking request through their website and got no reply, i then gave them a PM as they are members of addicts, also no reply, i was very disappointed but as i like the think the best of people i'm hoping it's just a technical problem, coupled with the fact he doesn't read his PMs. Anyway i pressed on looking for an alternative and tried the Jasmine Hotel Soi BJ off Walking Street, they have an automated booking system and you get an immediate reply, very professional i thought, so i'm now fixed up and we'll see how it goes.
  4. Hi, I've recently booked a return flight with Thai from Bangkok to Khon kaen business class, this was a free flight using air miles that were due to expire. From looking on flyertalk it seems that there is a domestic Business lounge at the new airport, for 1000 baht it's got to be worth it to get away from the crowd, plus there will be drinks & snacks, go for it and let us Know what you think of the lounge.
  5. Try this, enquires@pigandwhistle.net good luck.
  6. The Bella Vista between Soi's 7&8, is owned by the people that run the Eastiny Hotels.
  7. Well, if any of you lads want to CHICKEN out, there will be more ASIAN BIRDS around for the rest of us, to be up their FLUES.
  8. I've stayed in the Nana 3 times now, i don't always stop in Bangkok, sometimes i just head for Pattaya. Anyway on my last trip in June because i travelled alone i decided to get the Airport bus to Sukhumvit, stay at the Nana a couple of nights, then get the bus down to Pattaya. When i checked in they remembered me and were all smiles, but before i'd always payed for my room when checking out, this time they insisted i pay upfront, when i was in the lift with the bellboy i asked him why the change of policy, he pointed to my luggage, i was travelling light & only had a holdall. It seems they were frightened of me doing a runner. When you think about it anyone doing such a thing would have to be brainless, they've got your passport information ect, at best it would result in a trip to the monkey house and a fine, at worst a permanent ban from Thailand. I just thought well this is Thailand mai pen rai, & payed up, as for the hotel itself, the rooms are clean, the buffet breakfast very good and for a single man like myself the best place in the world.
  9. Hi hawkeyes, Like you i take TQ's, there is a small charge for stamp duty or something, i think it's 3 baht. But then there is a 30 baht charge per cheque, so if possible you want your cheques for £100 each. the exchange rate is slightly higher for TQ's also. There are exchange places all over Pattaya but i like to go in the daytime as i feel it's safer.
  10. Hi bigmofo, My outbound flight is Wed 9th of Nov, and i return on Wed 30th Nov. I don't know if it's cheaper because they're midweek flights. i booked with Opodo and got the £20 deal that stamboy told us about. The booking classes are V&W so i'll only get 50% milage, but i'm happy with the deal. do a search with them and see what it comes up with, remember this offer ends on the 26th.
  11. Thanks for the info stamboy, i've just booked for November, Thai Airways £463.41 all in. I think it's a pretty good price for that time of year, when you consider they're putting a $35 surcharge from August the 1st.
  12. I've just looked on the Thai website and found out they're now offering 50% milage accrual in V&W booking classes effective from july the 1st.
  13. Hello LOSO, I stayed at Porn Ping Tower in March 2003, i think penthouse has summed up the hotel pretty accurately. things are a lot quieter in Chiang Mai than Bangkok or Pattaya, but like he says everything you need is available at PPT. i would definitely recommend this Hotel.
  14. Hello Guys, this is my first post. Like you i'm a frequent flyer with Thai, in February i booked a round trip, Lhr Bkk, classes V & W for this coming June. As you say Thai have changed the rules starting June 1st, i think to get a Y booking you have to deal direct with Thai, the cost of this class is usually around £600 with tax. I payed £400 for mine. So whilst it's disappointing not to be accrueing miles we've got our discount up front with the price of the tickets. My last trip in Feb cost me £570 and that time the booking class was Q. I'll continue flying with Thai as i like the service leg room ect, but in the future i think if i've got the choice i'll take the V & W booking, if you come 3 times a year like me it works out cheaper than paying to accrue 65,000 miles.
