I was thinking about purchasing an external hardrive, the portable type, to load about 60gb of music and use it for photos as well. I am not very computer savvy, and was wondering if anybody has used these. My friend has a ton of music in his computer and I was looking to take it, put it into the hardrive so I would have this music library forever. I want to fill up my 40gb ipod and also load my computer so I have a music source. Then just hook up speakers to the computer and that would be my stereo. Thanks for the help.

They work fine – Just make sure that they and your computer have a USB 2.0. If you have the older version, it will take forever to transfer the data (I’m assuming that you are using a USB drive).

They also make a very good backup drive for all of your data that you can plug into any computer and transfer files.

I have a 160 gig external that I have used for about a year. Works great. Even with the old 1.1 usb mp3 files play ok. Data files deffinately go faster with 2.0 though. :cussing

I am going to buy a laptop soon and am not sure if I will buy ab Apple or something else. The external HD I am looking at have both firewire and USB 2.0. My friend who is sharing his music w/me has a MAC so he told me I needed firewire to transfer his stuff.

Can you repair MAC in Pattaya if necessary.
