Oil prices and airfares

Recommended Posts

Those coming from the US....if your on the fence about flying from the US to anywhere!!, you might want to get off and book that airfare NOW!!

Hurricane Katrina is a Cat 5 cyclone, sure to have a heavy impact on the Gulf oil platforms performance and output.

The spike, even further, in oil prices will surely be passed on to your flight ticket.

You can bet the rigs in the Gulf are all shut down and if the rigs and pipeline infrastructure are damaged in New Orleans/Gulf the price we have had to put up with will seem like nothing. The bouys were reporting 15+ foot waves early today and expect to see them go higher. The interstate is packed with people coming west to here and some farther. The price droped a few cents and I filled up. Expect the price to go up by tommorow due to the expected shortage.

My ticket for Dec/Jan paid for.

I have had my ticket for my return trip to LOS on Sept. 20 for several weeks. I return to the States on Dec. 4. I also have my ticket for my next trip on Jan.7 with return in April. So buying early has it's benefits.

If you don't have your tickets yet you can expect to pay premium prices. Call EARLY tomorrow...or pay more later. Good luck!

I noticed on the news a short time ago that the cost of a barrel of oil (in the US)had gone over the $70 mark for the first time.

I was also watching a programme last night when it was claimed the problem is not so much in the amount of oil being pumped from the ground but rather when it comes to the refining process.

This is going around the internet. I'M ON BOARD - NO GAS ON SEPT. 1. 2005!

Suitcase

GAS TOO HIGH!!!

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES. AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1ST HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR @$$ " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT. WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED WEEKS AGO? REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

PLEASE FORWARD THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU CAN!!!!

suitcase, good idea, I think it was tried before and too late to get the word out and enough people to believe. There are many legitiment reasons for a rise in fuel prices, but the real reason that they are so high is the oil companies are making hugh profits and their friends in Washington DCsupport them. Buy your tickets now. Just saw on ABC news, expect 15 cent rise in price by the end of the week.

Great suggestion marcortez.

After seeing the devistation on the gulfcoast, you prompted me to finally book my ticket to LOS

I'd been hoping the fare would drop a little further, but Katrina clinched the imposibility of fares dropping any more I think.

In any case, I think I got a pretty good fare from what I've been seeing the last couple months.

From Chicago to BKK, departure in mid-november, I got a $886 fare (KAL 3.5 hour stop-over in Seoul))on Travelocity.

So, thanks for the "wake-up call" to get off my butt, and book my ticket.

I"M COMIN' TO LOS!!! :nod :ang2 :buzzsaw :fight B)

Suitcase

Never ever work as people would simply purchase ther requirements the next day or at some later time. This would have no effect on the greedy oil companies,as they know sooner or later the status quo will kick in.

Now if everybody or a majority just stopped using their vehicles for 24 hours then that indeed would hurt the oil moguls,or if public transport was used solely for say 2 days then yes this would have a meaningful affect. :chogdee2 :D :clap1
