Have flown on both. Recently did a trip from BKK to Perth on Valuair. Nothing but praise. New aircraft, good seating with 10 inch bigger pitch than most economy cabins. The crew are very professional with a wonderful laid back attitude. Even sang a song for the passengers, when landing. Food is good too. Drinks are not free though, only tea coffee and water is available at no charge. We were half an hour early too!

Air Asia is not bad, cheap, but out of the two, I would go for Valuair.

Braggsaw, thanks for the feedback. I in fact did check Air Asia just now. I hadn't previously. They are the cheapest I've seen for BKK to Singapore.

Thanks for the tip. I'm goint to go with them.

For the short flight, I'm not that concerned with ammenities. I'd rather save the cash for sanuk. :o

Again, thanks for the responce and guidance.

I did in fact check them out. They didn't have the flight times I need, plus they are more expensive.

I found an even better deal with Air Asia for just under 4000 baht total, round trip.

I think I'll book with them. Plus they had a greater variety of flight times to choose from.

Thanks.

I believe JetStar Asia and ValueAir are merging. I've flown both JetStar Asia and AirAsia to Singapore, both for about 3200 RT, and JetStar was far better. New Airbus A318s (still had the 'new car smell', in fact). Backed by Quantis, so aircraft fleet is well maintained by competent mechanics. Conversely, AirAsia has a very poor on-time record, uses old 737s, and are independents. Unless a significant price difference, I would always choose JetStar Asia.

I'm flying AirAsia to Udon later this month, for 99 baht each way (plus taxes), but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.

TigerAir is backed by SIA, they use brand new Airbus. If there is not much different in price I would defintely go for TigerAir. Lookout for their promotion price which is always extremely cheap. FYI, I got their promotion fare for a round trip Chaing Mai and Singapore for only THB500 (less then USD15). Currently, they have a promotion price of SGD9.98 to various destination. You may wish to check out their website again.

Air Asia in Thailand are not the most reliable for domestic, flights cancelled and staff who look at you stone faced for hours without offering any explanation or different option. Maybe they are better on International runs.

Hey, thanks for the valuable feedback.

I guess I'll continue to look into it before booking anything.

For you guys that have used these small airlines around LOS and neighboring countries, what are my chances of just waiting until I get to LOS before booking my trip to Singapore? Would I be able to get a ticket with 2 week lead time durring late November?

Thank again.

For Tigerair, I think your chance of getting a good deal is very slim. Firstly, late November to late December is a peak season. Secondly, budget airlines normally want you to confirm your booking few weeks in advance in order to get very cheap promotion tickets.
