Good Prices On Thai Airways From USA

Recommended Posts

Called Thai Airways to price the NY-BKK non-stop. They gave me a price but said that I might be able to get a lower price from Jing and they gave me her number.

So apparently she has some kind of specuial relationship with Thai. Back in June, she locked in a price aND i PICKED UP THE TIKETS TODAY AT HER OFFICE ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE eMPIRE sTATE bUILDING.

If you're flying Thai from the USA, I suggest you give Jing a call and see if she can beat your price.

I paid 940, including all taxes, with FF miles for JFK departure on Saturday. Booked in late June, I think.

Not a fantastic price, but the very best I could find at that time point for my very inflexible schedule. ueto vacation constrainsts I needed to include Thanksgiving in my trip. At that time it was at least 60 bucks cheaper than anywhere else. But now, it's only 15 bucks cheaper than the Thai website and about 80 cheaper than Orbitz or Expedia.

If you live in New York it's tempting to fly back at 1AM Monday, arrive at 6AM Monday and go straight to work. But it seems the Monday return fromBKK is generally priced higher than Tuesday returns. Anyway I have only 9 vacation days left and am using exactly 9 for the trip and catch Loy Katrong as a bonus.

But what I paid is not that relevant cause every date is diff and prixces are changing all the time.

i booked from NYC to BKK for peak holiday travel departing 12/26/05 and returning 01/10/06. The best rate I could find was $1,000 even (all taxes included), but not a direct flight. I stop over in Inchon for 3 hours before arriving in BKK at midnight. Thai airways non-stop is around $1,700 for the same dates. Cathay airlines is offering a 1-stop from NYC to BKK for $945 that arrives in BKK at 6 pm (much better)!

I email Jing but got no response so far. I can only imagine prices will increase since Katrina so buy fast! -Pat

Yes......it is well worth it. The seats are much larger and the cabin is not as jammed packed as it is in economy. Typically, it is a business class type seat with coach food. You can go to the Thai Air website and find "our planes" and get a seatmap and all the info on different type of seats and cabin service.Thai Air does not book exec. economy on their website, you must use a wholesaler/consolidator like Econo Travel.

Your flight for $1335 from JFK to BKK. is that non-stop? if not, is the extra $400 worth the extra room? Cathay Pacific is offering JFK-BKK with a 3-hour stopover for $925 (all inclusive). Can Jing give me a better deal?

Ten, I think the extra 400 is well worth it. The flight I am taking is non-stop and i have some bags to check, so I was a bit more comfortable.!7 hours is a very, very long flight, so comfort is a must for me. The exec econ on Thai Air's new planes looks very good.

I don't know. $400 USD difference between executive economy and regular econcomy. It's the same plane right? Both people arrive at the same time? 16,000 Baht will buy a whole lot of comfort. I might upgrade to 1st class for $400 (hell, I can drink that much), but for me, it's not worth it to switch from economy to executive economy. Of course, I am also very poor, so $400 to me is a king's ransome. <grin

Also, no word from Jing :D 2guns .

IMHO $400USD for a business class seat both ways is a great deal. I figure it cost $11.76 per hour for the extra comfort and sleep. Well worth it in my opinion. 2guns

  • 1 month later...

I removed Jing's contact info as my ticket is V class even though she told me 5 times it was Q class and on her proposal email it said Q. V class only gets half the Q class FF miles.

Confronted her on the phone today and she did what Thais do when confronted/embarrased which is laugh.

She said I could have a refuns but as prices have gone up quite a bit taht'd be stupid. I told her she should give me 100 bucks.

She said she send me a check for $30 and I said I'll pick it up at her office.

Don't want a misunderstanding of the wrong address. She should have offered 30 bucks plus a blowjob.

I'd much rather have 8600 star alliance miles than 30 bucks. Her contact info

has been removed.

Hey Jing :cry1 :D :D :beer
