Stuck in High Season WITHOUT a reservation

I am pretty good on accommodations. I have rooms waiting at the Nana and Areca Lodge. But as I was drunk one day and started to believe some of these peoples' posts who said, "don't make plans, just go where the wind takes you." And, "don't overdue it...boyscout boy".

 

So my last day at the Areca is January 11th, but my plane does not leave to the 14th. Will this be a problem? I know it's high season, but will I really NOT find a room? I "planned" to use this free time to go to other hotels and bring back trip information. What is your experience with finding a room for only a couple of days during high season? Am I a dumb ass

No you wil be able to find a room. But you ight not find it at the price you want or in the area you want. If you want a higher type hotel mariot etc you may find it hard to get without paying avery high price. Booking in advance allows you to use travel agents who usually can get you better prices than going to the hotel directly. But travel agents can take up to 2 days to get you an answer. And if that answer is no then another 2 days etc etc.

 

Also depnds on what you like to do. I tried the same thing you are talking about in june of 2004. I decided that i just wanted to stay in the hotel i was in an avoid the hassle. But they were full so i had to check out. Went to several hotel for the last 5 days of my trip. Npone of them could take me for all 5 days. All were sold out for at least one of the days. So i wound up 1 day in omtien then back to pattaya marriot for the last 4 days. I would say the more times you have been to pattaya the easier it is to do. Just becuswe you know the lay of the land better.

Just turn right on leaving the Areca then first left on to Soi LKMetro,hundreds of rooms available everywhere at price range of 400/700 per night for short stay.

If there is you can bunk with Soi7. Just be careful when he tries to give you a 'reach around'.
