It's like the Nikon vs Canon wars I see all the time on the photography forums.

 

Both aircraft companies make great planes, and the public is better off for it. Boeing needed some competition to get off their butts.

And there is more than enough demand in the aircraft marketplace to support both companies for the foreseeable future. Whilst there is competition between producers it will be good news for the customer, i.e. us.

 

I am looking forward to Thai getting their new 777-300s next year and make the decision to fly them non-stop to Manchester ........... but don't tell Samsonite!

Thai Air can't get enough people to fly non-stop from New York or Los Angeles to BKK. Is there something about Manchester, besides being one of the wettest and coldest places on earth, that would produce a sufficient demand for Thai Air to offer such a service?

You need to read Thai's recent investors' reports and then direct your question to them but the answer is probably much the same as why they would offer non-stop flights to any European city.

The round trip I was on last month was pretty much full both ways. I think they have reduced the trips to every other day or so. I hope they can keep it up, it's a nice flight. The Thai flight crew was top notch. Food was only OK though. Singha was perfect

They are down to 4 days/flights a week out of JFK and 3 days/flight a week out of LAX.
