Hotels with DVD players.

I am looking for a hotel that has DVD players in them. Somewhere around 2nd road between soi 2 and soi 8, or on 2nd rad would be ok. Thanks Easydude

Over a year ago I bought a small "9 x "9 player for about $37 here in the states and took it over in my carry on. I've seen them on sale over in Pattaya at Carrefour for about 1500 baht.

 

Easydude the availability of a DVD player would only be a tie breaker in my decision of which hotel to stay. If you don't want to pack one over and back, you can buy one and either resell it or give it to your favorite TG.

When I was in Pattaya 5 weeks ago it was either Big C or Carerefour where I saw a DVD player for 1250THB

The hard rock hotel, has dvd players in some of their rooms. I was staying on one their vip/better/more expensive floors, and had a dvd player in each of the two rooms I stayed in (I move into a suite after a week).

 

Its pretty pricey, but very nice. And I've got to give a special mention to the staff, who really helped me out one night when my then tgf flipped out, and had to be escorted from the building. They handled it all brilliantly.

It's a ways away from your target area, but the Superior double room I had at Lido Beach Hotel on Beach Rd had a dvd player in it in May of this year. That was 1200 baht/night as I recall in low season.

 

Emil's suggestion is probably sound advice IMO.

 

I have a dvd/cd-rw on my laptop and with a 15 inch screen and the portable flat speakers I pack now it works nicely.

 

My guests typically are happy with the latest knockoff music cd I buy while I'm in town, but a movie is nice sometimes.

When I first did this, they brought up brand new one still in the box, set it up, tested it, etc. The following day I advised them that I was finished and they sent a guy to pick it up. I found it to be quite a customer friendly experience.

When I first did this, they brought up brand new one still in the box, set it up, tested it, etc. The following day I advised them that I was finished and they sent a guy to pick it up. I found it to be quite a customer friendly experience.

On your next trip let me know and I'll rent you mine for only 150 baht a day.

BigC currently has a DVD player on offer for 2,590 Baht. As a previous poster said, just buy one and leave it with your favourite TG/hotel staff member when you go home.

I hope it wasn't one of those Cyberhome CH300 players. I've seen reviews on them, and they are full of problems. I just gave mine to my coworker, and bought a Phillips DVP642, it does everything without all the freeze ups, and sound cutting out.

It was and so far not a single problem.

In Pattaya i stayed in AA Residence (August 2005) and have seen dvd player for rent at 100 bath/day.

 

There are hotels (or other) that rent dvd player in Bangkok?

Stayed in a place called 'ps appartments' on soi diana, just before LK Metropole. Paid 1000 bht for the rental for one month. My friend was there shorter and I think he paid 400 bht a week rental for the dvd players.

My memory was off. Sandy charges 120 baht per day.

This is what i bought at Big C for 2500bt.

And i use it at home rather than my big NZ purchased one as it will play all my zone3 dvds from asia. I use to look for luxury hotels with DVD players but now i just hook this little baby up and away we go. Only problem now is i want a hotel with 60" flat screens like the Solitaire in BKK.

Doesn't have to be a 4 or 5 * hotel, I've seen 2 places near the LK Metropole where the rooms went for 8,000 and 9,000 baht per month that had the players.
