One for the EVA experts.

If you want to upgrade at the airport from Elite to Premium Laurel, which of the two check-in desks do you go to , or can you use either?

And does anyone know if the number of airmiles needed is the same as the old Evergreen Deluxe to Super Business upgrade, as their website doesn't doesn't list upgrades in the new classes yet? B)

Go to the check in desk with the shortest queue

I have just been on an upgraded trip Elite to PL and I think it was 30,000 each way, back to the zoo next trip :D

Hello,

If you have a silver card or higher and you want an upgrade from elite

then you can use the Premium Laurel and the First class check inn.

It is indeed 30.000 miles one way.

I read about a stampede on tickets in Elite , if you fly through Amsterdam it will

be a lot easier to obtaina ticket.

I called tuesday for a ticket to Bangkok for the 4th of january and had no problem

at all to obtain a ticket for Evergreen de luxe.

Thanks guys. Now here's a supplementary question. :banghead

If I want to upgrade from Elite to PL, is it possible to do it on a flight where Elite is fully booked i.e. do I have to book an available Elite seat on the flight before I can upgrade even though I don't need the Elite seat anyway? Hope I've explained that OK. Bit of a Catch 22, this one.

Hello again,

In Holland i can do that, i have a diamond card from EVA and they always

try to find a place for me.

In fact the ticket i bought for the 4th of january was sold to me as an Evergreen

de luxe ticket, even though Evergeen was fully booked already.

I just bought the ticket and told them that i wanted to upgrade to PL and there was

no problem at all for that.

When you are a regular customer , they will go the extra mile for you.

The service from EVA is always first class, they will give you the front row chairs

if you have a gold or diamond card, so you have some extra room for your legs.

Hope this answers your question.

monkeyman,

The answer is .....ish! :D

What you need to do, preferably through a decent agent such as WestEast, Ours or Trailfinders, is call EVA reservations beforehand and check the availability of seats in Elite and also those in PL which are in a booking class that allows upgrades from Elite. Armed with this info, you get onto the agent and book your seat in Elite and advise them that you will be upgrading using your airmiles. Your agent will then give you your EVA booking reference and you then get back onto EVA reservations, quote the booking reference and they will do the rest with the agent. It seems a bit long-winded but it is to ensure that the seat you end up with (PL) is not the same seat that the agent will be invoiced for (Elite). Clear as mud? :chogdee2

Don't upgrade from Evergreen Deluxe to Business Class, it's not worth 30000 miles. 747 If you are fortunate to upgrade from Elite to Premium Laurel, it is worth it. 777, A330 only.

You get about 1 inch more of seat width in Business and that's it. Did it once in 2004, and i won't do it again.

With EVA, if you're crazy enough to wait until you get to the airport, I say good luck. I have never been denied an upgrade I asked for, but then again I'm a Gold FF member and usually fly paid C class. I usually just buy my ticket then call the airline's reservation office and tell them I want to use miles to upgrade. Never a problem and worked on Evergreen Deluxe to Business, as well. I'll second the post re: not to go from L to C on a 744. It isn't worth it. However, C to F on the 744 to/from the US is worth the 30k miles.
