Any boat ferries (not speedboat) from Patt. to Hua Hin/frequency/journey time?

I dont think there such a service. I think it could be as much as 50 miles across that Bay and would take a fair amount of time to make that crossing.

Why not a speed boat, its only about 100 miles

As JohnnyK posted, there used to be a boat ferry to Hau Hin but it closed, seems like 5 years ago or so. I've often wondered if it wouldn't be more popular now as the trip from here through Bangkok and then down to Hau Hin is a killer.

 

Not sure that I would like to try a speed boat with all the chop in the Bay of Thailand though. You might be fairly sore after several hours of that!

There's a guy posting on the HuaHin board trying to drum up investment interest in getting a catamaran service up and running.

Maybe it's possible to charter a Cessna from the local flying club, especially if there are a couple of you. There is an airline flies 2 or 3 times a day from BKK to Hua Hin, think called SAG or similar.

I wouldn't bother going to Bangkok from Pattaya and then flying to Hua HIn. If you could do it from Pattaya for a reasonable fare then maybe. Even a private car would only run you about Bt2-3k from Pattaya.

 

I once hired a car and driver to go to Phetchaburi near Hua Hin for 3 days. Sorted it out for around Bt5k all in and I paid for his accommodation.

Made the journey by taxi twice last year, January & September. On both occasions I was charged 3,000 B. Journey time is about 5 hours.

 

If you are a monger then Hua Hin is not worth going to. After Pattaya it will be very disappointing. However it is a pleasant part of the world and a good bit nicer than Pattaya. The beach is excellent.

 

I only went as I have a friend who works there.
