Police extortion

Good on you bagwan for standing up to the corruption :clap1 these parasites get away with it from weak farangs who pay up too willy nilly :rotflmao if you have not broken any laws stand up to the fuckers.i spent 2 hours in a local police station up country until they gave up and let me go without a fine which was trumped up in the first place.i can understand them fining guys for reckless driving/riding or those clowns who ride around without a helmet on.

they have been getting away with this for years only because weak people who are shit scared of any cop :rotflmao pay up with a smile :cry1 its weak arseholes paying them that keep corruption flying high in Thailand, its increased the last 8 years or so because of the new breed coming to thailand with no idea how to stand up to the local cops who attempt to play on the farangs fear of them.these guys remind me of newcomers to the prison system :rotflmao they sit in their cells all day shit scared to go out in the yard for some excersise :cry1

I think you missed the point.

This forum is mostly made up of tourists seeking information or advise. Many people reading this board have not even been to Thailand yet. Before my first trip I got loads of great info from helpful board members. BUT, arguing with a cop while on vacation in a third world country is rarely a good idea. In fact, it is a BAD idea.

I won't spend 2 hours of my vacation in a police station, arguing when I could be getting laid.

I have never had a run in with the cops in LOS, but, I have in other places and paid the bribe just to get on w/ my vacation. Hell, I would venture to guess that most of us probably don't even drive while on vacation in Thailand.

If you live there, fine, do what you have to do. It just might affect how they handle expats such as yourself. I doubt it will have an effect on how they handle tourists.

Just to clarify my post it was directed at expats and tourists who drive here without a helmet on.pay the fine and continue on your holiday and this might just save your life when you do ride with a helmet. For expats dont pay any bribe :cry1
