Has anybody stayed here recently?. The last review on the board is almost a year old,and i'm wondering what it's like now. I'm arriving next wednesday(15th) and havn't booked anywhere yet.I think i read somewhere on this board that if you book X amount of nights, then you get X amount free.Somebody care to shed some light?

Cheers.

I know the Sunshine Vista on soi 3 had a promotion if you stayed 7 days you only pay for 6, stay 14 days pay for 12, 21 days pay for 18 but you had to book in advance thru an agent.Checking out Sawasdee.com seems like these offers only apply to low season in the Sunshine Hotel on soi8. Thats from the 16th April on their site. :chogdee2 :clap1 :D

If you do decide to stay there ask for a room in the new wing. I booked a room there about 3 years back and they put me in the recently remodeled old wing. The room was small and the shower was not seperated in the bathroom so when you took a shower the whole bathroom got wet. I checked out 2 hours later and went next door to the Eastiny Place.

I stayed at the Sunshine 3 years ago in the new wing 8 or 9th floor, nice view, no noise, but I was thinking about the Flipper Lodge on Soi 8, which hotel in your opinion is better, as I have not been to the Flipper, I do like the looks of the pool, and the in room massage is a bonus too.

In sunshine hotel soi 8 you get what you pay for

Small room(old wing) 500 low season 1000 high season

Decent sized room 1000 low season 1500 high season

Exspensive i know but it IS on soi 8

My advise- find somewhere behind 2nd road!!!

Haved stayed in this hotel many times in the last year during low/high season and think its an ok hotel(good positioning) but there are cheaper options only a stones throw away from the main action-just have to look for them mate

In the Soi 7/8 area I prefered the Eastiny Place if you need a pool ( haven't seen the new Eastiny on Soi 7) and the Bella Vista if you don't. Haven't stayed there for awhile as I found better places at lower rates elsewhere.

Agree with Emil, EP better. I also think you get to use the EP pool if staying at Bella Vista (Same owners).

eastiny place i guess it will be then.I stayed there last year, and yeah,it was an ok hotel.I have had an email off them confirming that they have rooms available,so i will stay there.

When you check in, have them show you the room. Some are better than others. Also, stay in the wing away from Soi 8, as its much quieter in the am. I can't remember if its wing a or b.

The suites on the 7th floor are nice (or used to be, it's been a few years) with nice bathroom two tvs, over pool and partial bay view. Last time they gave to me for 1,350/night, as they botched my suite reservation at the Bella Vista.

Both wings run perpendiculiar to Soi 8 so you want the rooms that are away from the soi and you want the ones where the balcony overlooks the pool. the higher the floor the better. When your room is located at the front not only do you have some of the Soi 8 bar noise, but when I stayed there a Thai guy with a whistle was constantly blowing it. I stayed there during my trips in 2002 and always paid 650 a night. When they quoted me a higher price I found greener pastures elsewhere.

They have quoted me 950 a night.I have asked if they will drop it down to 800 a night if i stay for 21 nights. They havn't come back to me yet.I paid 800 a night when i was there last year,so hopefully they will say yes.

Emil, where are these new pastures you are talking about, and how much per night?

Cheers.

valley boy,

After Eastiny Place I began staying at Mike's Beach Resort on Soi 4 for 600 a night, older place but much bigger room with a nice view and balcony along with a nice pool. I would also stay at the Marine Yensabai Mansion on Soi Yensabai when I wanted to concentrate on the go-go girls before moving to Mike's Beach at the end of my trip. Cost was 700 a night with a 5% discount if you stayed 2 weeks. Brand new at that time and very large room with a view of the bay, no pool. Once I settled down with TGF then I began staying at places that offered a monthly rate. First was the Holiday Mansion between Soi Buakaow and 3rd Rd. New place with nice pool and I stayed in their large room for 12K a month. After that I rented a place year round that had just opened for 7500 a month out by Carrefour which is the nicest place I've stayed and also the cheapest. Two negatives, no pool and no lift. Keep in mind that these monthly places are more suited for guys with girlfriends as you only get house cleaning once or twice a week and you have to pay for utilities. If I didn't have the TGF and was just renting for a month I would get one of those recently opened places on Soi LK Metro. Last summer they had some that were around 9k a month and it include utilities and house cleaning.

Hi Valley Boy. I stayed in the Sunshine on soi 8 for fifteen days over Christmas 2005. Great hotel and a fantastic location, great food and service. However it does have a down side.First of all it is one of the most expensive places to stop on soi 8.I was on the 10th floor and at night up until 3 or 4 am you do get alot of Bar/Street noise.I am told that the lower level floors are not as nice as the uppers. The biggest disappointment for me was the joiner fee of 500 baht per night.Being a serial shagger it proved a costly mistake to make!!!! Wont be happening again!!!Staying on soi 13 this April no joiner fees!!! Sunshines loss is my gain. Shop around mate many hotels doing better deals, and remember BEWARE THE JOINER FEE!!!!!!! dont be afraid to ask before you book.

there is no joiner fee at sunshine hotel and residence,

you even can take the cleaning girls, if you're up to

Most of the cleaning ladies at the sunshine hotel are real hags, so there is no chance of me ever taking one in my room for some hows your father, id rather walk out of the lobby and onto soi 8 for a s/t girl :drunk
