You just have to shop around, sometimes these hotel agents can be actually cheaper than direct sites to the hotel. Depends. For instance

www.asiarooms.com

www.passionasia.com

www.asiahotels.com

www.precisionreservations.com (note from reading other sites the reason they are cheaper than most is the fact that they do not add the tax the way the other sites do)

and the best of all

http://www.hotelreslist.com/

although this site is limited in which area of LOS you are going to. It is a good comparison website as it lays all kinds of hotel prices from a handful of vendors for you to choose the cheapest. Though I noticed the price does differ a little from the actual asiarooms site but not by a lot.

Used Directrooms for hotel booking in Bkk last October(they had the best price on the hotel I wanted). Their service was very efficient and no problems with the booking.

Also used them to pre-book transport to the hotel but would not recommend this as this service was way overpriced.

I have used directrooms several times. In one case I used them for one room and precision reservation for the other when booking in Singapore. directroom was cheaper.

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT REASON to use directrooms.com

On one trip I had to cancel my trip and reschedule to a later date. I sent directrooms.com an email asking if I could cancel. They allowed me to cancel and gave me full credit toward another hotel at a later date. When I had the same thing happen with another online booker they said tough luck no refunds no credits. To the best of my knowledge directrooms is the only discount advance booker that will give you a credit if you have to cancel as long as you give them advance notice.

The one problem with directroom is that it sometime takes some time to get an answer. If you are trying to book a room on short notice then you can be stuck. But even then direct rooms is helpful. On my last trip I tried to book a room on directrooms.com after not being able to find a room in Bangkok after trying more than 30 different hotels. (Nana, majestic, dynasty, etc etc were all full.

I sent directroom that I would accept any room under 2500 baht anywhere in the nana area. they sent me an email back saying they had no rooms but to call the Bel-Aire Princess Hotel on soi 5 and tell them directrooms had referred me as a client. I had already called the princess earlier and been told that they were full. But I called anyway and told them directroom had referred me. They put me on hold and then told me they had a room for 2400 baht. When I got to Bangkok at 12:30 in the morning I got to the hotel. They upgraded me to a suite. Very nice room. They have completely remodeled in the last couple of years. And they have a great buffet.

So I am a very happy directrooms customer. :eyecrazy :clap2
