hi everyone,

I am currently booked up for 24 nights in Thailand in July/August but I am considering increasing my stay by 4 extra days. The only problem is my China Business class tickets have already been issued to me by the travel agent. Does anyone know how much it is to change the return date on my ticket to a later date?

Thanks everyone.

I have spoken to my travel agent this morning and they reckon it will cost me £160 (£80 each for my wife and myself) to change our date of return. Is this correct or are they having my pants down?

I also have a China Airlines ticket (Dynasty Class) and if you look in the middle it says :-

CI SECTORS BUSINESS/NONEND/RERTE/REF RESTICT/CHANGE80GBP

Therefore I think your travel agent is 100% correct in saying that a change will cost you 80 of our Great British Pounds.

makavelli,

CI's business class specials allow for changes within the vailidity of the original ticket. If you make the change prior to your outbound journey there is a fee to pay (in this case 80 quid per ticket ....... there will also probably be an "admin" fee charged by the agent) and you would need to return the tickets to have the changes endorsed.

Alternatively, you can wait until you are in LOS, i.e. after the date of outbound travel, and give CI in BKK a call and change your return date (normally free of charge for a C/D class ticket). The problem is likely to be getting a connection on KLM (I presume) within the same ticket class that was originally issued for their leg of the flights, rather than CI.

Best to speak to CI in London (0207 436 9001) rather than your agent and ask them for your options.

Tom

I have changed BA flights before and have always got them changed free when I do so in a Travel shop in Pattaya. i once rang BA before I travelled and was quoted a fee 150 to change ticket. Can't say it will be the same for all airlines, but I find it's cheaper to change when over there

  • 3 weeks later...

I sent my tickets back including a cheque for £160 to change my dates (me and the wife) which my travel agent informed me to do. Today my travel agent phoned me to say that China Airlines has introduced a new contract for changing and re-issuing tickets. The guy continued to tell me CI now asks for £115 to change date of ticket and an extra £80 to re-issue tickets. so total being £195 each!

However he said he had phoned China Airlines and explained that I have had my ticket booked for months etc etc. So china said that he could book my new outbound date into the computer but could'nt re-issue me new tickets without having to pay these new ridiculous fee's. So the travel agent said he will send me back my orginal tickets and cheque to me, but when I get to BKK airport for my return flight to the Uk just go to check in desk as normal(but on the new day that I wanted to change to) and pay the £80 each and there wont be a problem.

Is he correct or when I get to BKK they will have no idea what I am talking about?

Thanks everyone.

Extending your stay BEFORE you even get there !!

You GO Mackem. If you are succesful you can have the satisfaction of walking into any travel agents in Pattaya on any given day and seeing the desperate souls hawking for extra days in the " house "

Believe me,I will probably be one of them ( again ).

Others are right - it depends on your "ticket class" and its importnat to cjheck this when booking.

many cheap deals are non changeable (understandably) without a fee but I'd be well pissed off if I bought a business class ticket and that was the case.
