I would like to set up internet access on my mobile and laptop.

I have a bluetooth enabled laptop (XP-pro) and mobile( samsung D500), and I use TH GSM 1-2-call prepaid. Just for occassional in room access, normally I plug my laptop in at the internet cafes.

Easy or not so?

Easy as pie. Even easier if you use a usb cable. If your phone supporst EDGE, you'll be able to access that whilst in Pattaya. Be prepared to put up with outages or slowdowns in the evening though.

Perhaps not as easy as pie!

Wrong question asked...how to do?

I have a USB cable and bluetooth, but have no idea what to do next.

I do not believe my phone supposts edge, nor have I ever heard of it.

I have no idea whether I need to enable something on my phone, or with Thai GSM, the only thing bluetooth or the USB cable lets me do is move files, music pictures and tones around using Samsung Easystudio. There is an icon there for internet access but it is not highlighted.

I can not comment on EDGE but I presume that the blue tooth connection would be very similar to infared which is made by going into the modems in control pannel and installing a blue tooth modem. Have the blue tooth on your phone active at the time and go through the wizard which is the easiest. If you dont use the wizard you have to install a bluetooth port and an additional com port plus alter a lot of configuration of the port. It does take some fiddling about with and after you have finished if you use a dialup connection of your phone(modem) you get a 14kbs speed that is all, make sure you have plenty of credit on your phone because it uses it quite quick unlkess you have one of the deals sorted on your phone like 5baht first minute and then .25baht after that, the normal calling price is about 4baht per minute. (Dtac sim cards)

Well thanks for feedback guys, I have actully got it working!

First step was to connect to the internet a different way and download the software and drivers from the Samsung page!

Next dick around with modems and drivers and being confused by which com port to use. Couldn't figure it, wouldn't work, shut the computer down in frustration ...next time I try it works!!!! :chogdee2
