Just thought I'd let any interested travellers from Melbourne or Sydney know that Thai Airways has return fares to Bangkok from now until early December for AU$841 including taxes.

 

I have only found these low fares on travel.com.au and slightly higher on lastminute.com.au both are the same company but travel.com.au has them slightly lower.

 

Zuji and various other sites have them for approx. AU$100 more expensive.

 

I have booked mine for early November and they are still available.

If you don't mind being treated like cattle, you can often save a bob using Malaysian out of Melbourne, but the direct flight on Thai is a bonus.

Going to Aussieland to visit a friend in QLD once I am finished with my contract here in Sri Lanka. Probably going to try to get in a few days in Pattaya on the way, so wondering how long is the flight from BKK to first touchdown in kangaroo land?

Depends what flight you get. Thai have a direct to Brisbane three times a week, I'd guess about 7 hours?

 

If you need to break the flight try a search on Bkk-Darwin, then swap planes.

Brisbane to Bangkok is 9 hours 20 minutes, no sweat as this is the only direct flight to Bangers I know about from Brissie.

I booked a September 13th flight with Thai for $A867 including taxes which i thought was a steal at that price. It had nothing to do with me having the hots for the travel agent at Student Flights, Indooroopilly Shopping Town, Brisbane.
