Greetings All

I think I am about to offered a job in Laos - the money won't be great , but Vientiene will be a change of lifestyle for me. The only problem is that I haven't lived in this part of the world before so I'm not sure what to expect.

The most important thing for me is to find whether there is a nightlife scene there or not. If it's a sleepy provincial type place, what do the expats do during their free time ??

Does anyone here have any experience about living in Lao

Very sleepy but pleasant.

No nightlife "scene" but girls are available, tuktuk guys will offer to you and often the girl is in the tuktuk.

People go out to drink beer and shoot the shit, samesame as other places.

Go, its a special place.

Only been to Vientiane once 3 years ago but I cannot imagine it's changed much. If you need a substantial night life I'd look elsewhere. To say the least it's not party central.

Also I wonder what the new visa rules will do to the frequent border hoppers. That is, guys in Laos who pop over to Nong Khai for shopping etc.

The night life is not very big however most of the pickup areas would be near the river where most of the clubs are.
