Personal Photos as avators

I have notice this month that my avator disappeared - I thought it might have been down to something I did on my site. So I went onto the My Controls area here and checked the URL was right ... I discovered its there and it displays perfectly. Yet on posts, it's missing. I did a reload and still nothing shows.

 

Its a puzzlement!

It gets better.

 

I checked the post in IE6 without logging in (to make sure it wasn't a Firefox problem) and discovered the photo above doesn't display at all ... all I see is corrunpted HTML code and a hyperlink to my site.!??

 

Log in, and hey presto, it displays as an inline image:

 

Is this a bug or a security setting?

I'm getting a server not found error wheen I go to http://www.rhoel.co.uk/IndexImages/rhoel-icon.jpg. The server may be down or it may be something to do with the Taiwan problem. When it displays OK you are probably pulling the image from your cache.

 

Avatars are not displayed to unlogged in people. It's a feature

Ah ha, disscovered the error: You can have two photos, one an avatar, the other a personal photo. Both images were the same, but on different servers. The UK server is down/base dir changed.

 

Useful to know.
