Recently sent this card, will somebody please list entitlements for me.Have checked web site but really cannot see advantages.I was surprisingly upgraded to premium on my last trip home and given a pass for free use of lounge, this despite only having only 24,000 qualifying miles,is this normal or was I just lucky to strike an excellent check-in LADY!Just BTW a few weeks later when I checked my mileage,no deduction had been done,is this normal?  <huh

I am referring to the SILVER card!

stevoman,

I am also a silver level rop member, as far as I can tell it is only used to identify your status level, I think all airlines have status levels. With Thai you are considered to be a mid level traveller at silver level, something like 10,000 miles in the first calander year, and a certain amount keeps you at that level, I cannot see any stand out extras you get for being at that level but was also upgraded on a return trip at no cost of points. One trip with a few points gets you a crappy paper card, 10,000 silver and 50,000 gold, with gold you automatically get the use of their lounges.

I had luck today purchasing 2,000 points which gave me the 45,000 points for a return trip, to my almost disbelief I could use my free flight for a christmas trip, which from Australia is never less than $1500.00au, the lady in the office was extremely helpful and told me it is better to get in asap for a Christmas trip as there is no block out period but only minimum seats on some flights, I had no worries getting exactly the flights I wanted.

So I suggest stick with Thai, in my opinion they are a great airline second only to Singapore. They have plenty of direct flights from my part of the world and are very cheap most times of the year. They also seem to honor frequent miles at anytime unlike Qantas who are expensive and a very ordinary airline in my opinion.

From Europe

Silver gives you +10 kg of baggage + something on waiting list

Gold gives you

+ 20 kg

+ guaranteed a seat in at least economy if you book more than 72 hours before departure

+ sitting in SAS 1st class lounge in Copenhagen even if you have the cheapest economy ticket

Oh, this is the 6th year with gold card, I had silver for one year - you just need one return trip from Copenhagen to BKK to get a silver card.
