I'm looking for a one way ticket for my tg BKK-LAX in mid June. Should I act right away to save money? And can anyone refer me to a good travel agent for this?

Thanks

Need some more answers:

Does she have a visa to the U.S.?

If not forget it. Get Visa first, if you can.

Are you in Pattaya?

If not, it is very difficult to find a travel agent that will issue a ticket in her name on a credit card that is not in her name.

EVA sell one way tickets and usually the price is close to 1/2 of the price of a round trip.

Hawk buys his tickets from a travel agent BKK-LAX on china air. they have and open return for 6 months and the price is around $900. For an extra $50 you get the ticket with a 1 year open return. Travel agents also have similiar tickets on other carriers.

All the airlines will sell a one way ticket, the just charge way too much. :D

You are correct of course, but you miss my point. I had a lot of problems buying my TW a ticket to the u.S., originating in Thailand. The reasons were:

I was in the U.S. at the moment.

She did not have a credit card in her name.

Thailand Travel agents would not issue her a ticket with my Credit Card, only one that was issued in her name.

I did not want to wire her the case, due to the excessive exchange costs.

There is also a rule that you pay in the currency of the originating country of the ticket, and they use exchange rates that are not adjusted daily.

I ended up buying a ticket in the U.S. from a travel agent who bent the rules for me, as it was the cheapest.

sorry Mr. Mango,

your are correct, I completely missed what you were looking for, i thought you were after a cheap one way fare.

Local Grocery stores here in the US have visa cards you can buy. They are rechargable. You send the card inside a birthday card to the girl in overnight mail. Once you know she has it you go online and put the needed amount of money on the card and she can charge it no problem. (yes I know you are not suppose to do that. But it works most of the time.) 2guns
