BEST BANG for the BUCK/BAHT

Recommended Posts

The all-you-can-eat Thai BBQ near the Shell station on 2nd road.

Get off the songthaew at the Shell station (past Big C on the right) and walk up about 100 yards.

Its a huge place and you buy a ticket at the entrance, used to be 99 might be a few more baht since last fall. BBQ at the table, whole fish cooked by ladies on a grill, pork chops etc etc and always spaghetti w/meat sauce for adventurous eaters.

Cute Tiger girls, too.

sounds good, is it like this one and is it any good

If you can eat Thai food and want a large selection in one area, check out the weekend market on Theppisit Rd. The area of this market that sell fresh food and cooked food may even be open during the week, can anyone verify.

Yes the food market is open every evening.

Try the minced pork kebabs from the end stall about 3 roes down. Superb

NeeRoys in Soi Chiapoon is a great place to eat and inexpensive even for Pattaya.I would like to add that whilst the buffet at the LEK is inexpensive ,having stayed there for over 4 months I was able to watch what happened to the food over the "hours" it was left in the open air to be crawled over by various bugs and flies.I like the LEK as an Hotel but their buffets leave a lot to be desired as do all the other buffets I have seen in Pattaya.

Neil, although I have not been to Birmingham for many years, I did

have a chicken rogan @ Bina tandoori in Reading last Saturday.

It was not far off the rogan served at Neeroys.

Each to their own I suppose, but neeroys do make

it the way I like it, so its just as well that I do not

ever need to visit Birmingham if your opinion is accurate.

All the best, Ranger.

When i ate their and looked at the sign saying 'curry the same as you get in Bradford' i did wonder if somehow the curries you get in brum are different to everywhere else in the UK.

My conclusion you will get slight variations but considering the balti was invented in brum and with a massive india population(more than the whole population of reading), also with the many curries ive had in Pattaya e.g the arab quarter i decided Neeroys curries where fucking shit.

If im ever in Reading which i doubt then i must remember to have a chinese

Crazedchef: I think you are referring to MK Restaurant. If you are ever in BKK try MK Gold in Siam Paragon on Sukhumvit Road. This mall has the biggest food court I've seen yet.

Both are quite good but I am accustomed to eat off of the food carts as well. Nothing like some insects and frogs as a mid afternoon or late night snack. I will normally mix my day up amongst several types of eateries.

I know that curries all over the UK are a little different to reflect the different tastes of the various towns and cities .Glasgow in common with Newcastle have the hottest vindaloo curries ,because the big strong drunken curry eaters from those places seem to think that the more pain their curry causes them the more manly they are.I was born in Glasgow( have lived in the south for almost 40 years) but I have only ever eaten southern curies and when I tried a Glasgow Vindaloo curry I could not eat it because it was too hot and was therefore uneatable by me .
