Is there a way to edit a post? I don't have the time to wade through a FAQ. After dictating a message to my secretary for her to post here, I noticed a mistake when reading it later on the board. Who ever heard of someone "using warm water and warm soap?" Clearly my response to the young man who asked for suggestions to fix his "sour shoulder" should have been "warm water and soap" but will he indeed try to heat up a bar of soap? Would I be held liable if he was to burn himself? Would the liability possibly even extend to this board, since the edit function is clearly not featured prominently, if indeed this function even exists here? Not a good start for old Chauncy at this board and an error, albeit not technically mine but under the Pembrooke name nonetheless, that I seek to redress. Thank you.

Fear not sir..warm soap is readily available at the nearest good quality Katoey accessory store to you... :allright

As for the "Sour shoulder' surely a pinch of salt should be sufficient????

After reading Bullfrog's reply I see that it's basically everyone for themselves in this section. So I went to the search function and found this:

Editing Posts

Above any posts that you have made, you may see an 'Edit' button. Pressing this will allow you to edit the post that you had previously made.

When editing you may see an option to 'Add the 'Edit by' line in this post?'. If you tick this then it will show up in the posts that it has been edited and the time at which it was edited. If this option does not appear, then the edit by line will always be added to the post.

If you are unable to see the edit button displayed on each post that you have made, then the administrator may have prevented you from editing posts, or the time limit for editing may have expired.

The word "may" is vexing...is it left to the whim of the administrators who has an edit button and who doesn't? There isn't a button above my posts, but apparently Bullfrog has one, since his post shows clear cut evidence of having been edited at the very end. Does the board strive for poor grammar, atrocious spelling, etc. without posters being able to right their wrongs? Very curious, but being new here it is certainly not for me to raise too much of a protest.

sincerely,

Chauncy

Users who have not applied for membership (whose membership status is "Registered") have less features of the board available to them, including less information, no Personal Messages and, of course, the EDIT function.

You now have access to these features.

Since we don't use the Nannie-run Google for revenue for the board, you can swear all you want in here. I don't see any downside to it, other than you might offend someone who does a search for "Pattaya" and "Edit". The problem with discussing other things that are mentioned in the forum header are the local authorities.

Does no-one else see the wrong in letting a secretary place your posts on the board?

I always let my secretary post all my stuff. :D I have better things to do than hang around on this board all day and night.

Dear Mr. Alexist,

Because of the kind nature the administrator who goes by the abbreviated name of "MM" seems to have, there is now an edit function available to me. That question at least to me is now moot. But other new members to this board can possibly learn about the mysterious "edit function" that had me baffled when trying to have Ms. Stentworth go back and correct an error on an earlier post. Her error, I hasten to add!

After being given access to the more muture discussions and subject matter in the restricted area, let me assure you my secretary will not be taking any more dictation from me in regards to the postings to this board! Even this response down in the general section of the board is being sloooooowly typed by a one Mister Pembrooke...so it will be shorter than previous posts. "There is a God!" I hear you shout from halfway across the world, Mr. Alexist. But this precaution will obviously limit my time spent here to mostly reading.

Problems at work seem to demand more and more of my time. Why do they come running to me with these problems? What am I paying upper management for? Oh well, I will then just mostly focus on reading past posts and learn from the many people who have experienced the apparent joys of Thailand in general and Pattaya specifically. If I have a question or (more likely) there is a point raised by another board member that I feel it is necessary to respond to then you can be certain that I will be heard from again.

I am sure that a board with this many members has more than a handful of Mr. Sinbinjacks, Mr. Rightsaids and Mr. Weavers aboard. This will inevitably lead me to ask clarifying questions of them or to challenge their suppositions. I ask their patience in advance. Hopefully you, the inquisitive Mr. Alexist, will be among the people I interact with down the road at this board.

Warmest regards,

Chauncy
