Etihad New Schedules

Recommended Posts

Hi my Friends

Glad to see Etihad have seen sense at last and re-introduced a morning flight

to Abu Dhabi at 09.35am with onward connection to Bangkok arriving 07.10 next

day. This means there will be 2 flights per day from Heathrow with onward

connections to Bangkok with only short stop-overs, at the moment there is only 1 decent flight without long stop-overs.

I flew etihad last xmas and it was superb, flight out of gatwick in the morning, catch the connection

in abu dhabi in the evening and arrive bangkok 6am.

so this year in feb i booked it again and then they changed everything and stopped flying out of gatwick,

bloody daft, they wanted me to spend 12 hours in abu dhabi airport, no way.

didnt know they had changed things again.

Problem with that flight Rainsberger is that if you from the south west (as I know you are) there no coach or train thats going to get you there at that time of the morning for the flight (unless you leave home midnight etc)

Hi all

Yes I have been trying the airlines this past couple of years and have now settled to Etihad going from Manchester. I flew with them last Nov and booked the same again this nov flight schedules are the same ie leaving Man at 1000 arriving bkk 0710. Having flown Thai in april never again comparing the two (well there is no comparison) staff on both were excellent but thats were it stops. Thai planes antiquated with worn out seats and usless entertainment also substandard food in comparison to that of Etihad. On Etihad the food the individual entertainment system and seating and I mean all in economy are excellent. :banghead

I have had friends who have flown them Business and economy and raved about them so i thought i would give them a try and they were doing a special on business class. Bring on November.....

Bad timing!

I used Etihad's early flight last November and February and was more than happy with it. I've booked Thai for this Novenber and Qatar for March and NOW they put the early flight back on. :D

I'm in the Southwest as well and the overnight train works out quite well for these flights. OK, it's a slow train, but it gets you to Heathrow for 05:45 or Gatwick for 05:55, either is fine for a 09:30ish take off. The return landing in the morning is good too: the evening flight lands too late to get me home without another overnight train.

It's funny, I don't mind an overnight train on the way out but I can't stand the idea of one on the way home. :banana

Ah well, next year.

Also understand there have been some changes to the Manchester to Bangkok schedules,

from the end of October as my mate has aready found out.

His flight to Abu Dhabu on 1st March 2008 due to depart at 10.00am now no longer runs.

His flight now Departs at 20.20pm on 1st March and arrives Bangkok at 18.45pm next day

So when you book flights from Manchester make sure you are fully aware of the new schedules.

I too miss Gatwick / Etihad - I'm looking at Qatar in future, still Gatwick. What I can't understand tho is that there's little price wise between a Thai or Eva direct flight and some Etihad fares. Surely there's a considerable cost saving for the airlines that go in two hops because they're carrying less fuel weight...?

................ and less fare-paying passengers, less revenue earning freight, double the costs in landing fees, twice as many crews etc, etc.

That aside, Thai economy is straight out of the 1980s and BA/Qantas have shitty legroom. That only leaves EVA that has a decent product (in comparison to the competition). Can't see a lot changing until Qantas get their A380s on the route.
