Hi,

Does anyone have any info please on Hillside Resort. It`s on the hill between South Pattaya and Jomtien.Looks nice and quiet for the day and close enough to the nightlife for the nights. :Any feedback would be appreciated, :D

Thanks

Here are a couple of links...

I have never been to this place. Based on the map, it looks like you will need special transportation to return to your room. But it does look nice!

Here is a quote:

The Hillside Resort Pattaya is located atop the South Pattaya Hill and within walking distance there are

secluded beaches, an excellent nine hole golf course, a beautiful fitness park and the Pattaya Hill Buddha Wat.

your better off looking for a cave to stay in, i booked a month in this shithole and checked out after 2 weeks. no food, no drink. ran out of water ever 2nd day. dont be fooled by the pictures on the site. some of the aircons have a on and off no temp control. you shower with your toilet when there is water. and i was in a seaview dulex room the sea was about a mile away. donot pay in advance because if you want to check out early you wont see no cash back from them. i can go on and on about this outhouse....

I take it that you do not recommend this place then? Thanks for your thoughts as I too was seriously considering it as their web-site makes it appear to be a bargain, nothing beats personal experience! :gulp

I'm staying here now.

Nice and quiet for sleeping. You can get taxi's and motorbike taxi's fairly easy but best to rent a scooter. Just a bit far to be walking.

Yes they did run out of water one day. It was just part of the one day out of the month. Should they have, no but I just showered at the gym instead.

Room is as displayed on the internet. Cleaned twice a week. Adequate for the price.

Has a restaurant. Food OK and priced just fine. Laundry here too but I go around the corner.

Can use the big resort next door. Well, no one has bothered to check or stop me.

I haven't had any issues other than the water running out for part of one day.

The pool isn't large but not used by many guests. Perhaps as it is in the shade a lot.

Good value for the money. Would I stay here again. So far, yes.

No Joiner Fee but they do insist on taking the girls ID card. No problem there.

I have noted with interest the comments posted regarding the Hillside Resort, Pattaya and although they were posted some time ago, I must admit they are missleading. I decide to stay at the Hillside Resort last month and must admit that as a well travelled individual, I thoroughly enjoyed my six nights in their second floor suite (202/204). It was clean, comfortable and suitably furnished to match its claimed 3 star status. The pool was delightful and despite the lack of choice, the breakfast at the Garden Hut was a bargain at only B120.00. The saving on accommodation cost left ample funds to hire a motor cycle to offset the distance from central Pattaya and even made it possible to reserve a private transfer from Walking Street to the Hotel on the one evening I thought a late-night motor cycle trip up the mountain after a few beers may be too risky.

I will be returning to Pattaya again before the end of the year and will most definately make the Hillside Resort my base again.

I hope this report on this lovely little establishment will encourage others to venture a little further away from the city centre when they next visit Pattaya ..... there is more to life than falling out of bed into a GoGo bar!

I stay at the Hillside Resort often when I am in Pattaya. My main reason for coming to Pattaya is the sailing club and it is within walking distance of that.

The HS is run by an English couple Roy & Terri and I found that they are very approachable if there are any issues with the room etc that need to be sorted out. One time I was staying there the aircon in my room died. I mentioned it to Roy the next morning. To my surprise in the evening when I came in, a brand new aircon was installed. I considered this to be marvellous and very unthailand in response and turnaround to fix.

I stay in either the garden View or deluxe rooms. The rooms are good sized, but very sparsely furnished. All the rooms I stay in have cable TV's and DVD players. The sparseness is not a problem for me as I only sleep there anyway. Bathrooms are small with electric showers over the bath. Bit cramped if you wish the TGF to shower with you!

The Garden Hutt restaurant attached is OK. For breakfast I often walk along to O'Gara's (5 min walk) for their 95Baht special. http://www.taracourt.net/ogaras-bar-grill/

I always stay there on the monthly package and consider this good value. On this package they only change the sheets twice a week. Occasionally I had a need for a bed linen change out of cycle (no need to ask why!) and I found that if I had a chat with housekeeping and tipped them nicely they would change them out of cycle for you.

If you are staying on the monthly package they will collect the Baht in total upfront. For whatever reason they do not spell out to you that there are additional charges for electricity and water if paying the monthly rate, make sure that you get this listed out when making reservations.

One little thing that caught me by surprise my last visit. My stay was for 33 days. The monthly rate covers 30 days. They asked me to pay the full list rate for the 3 additional days. It would have been best to spell this out up front when booking and then rolled to total price into one account. If you are in this situation make sure you ask.

If I am having a night out downtown I usually catch a mcycle down to Soi Marine (40Baht) and then late at night a Baht bus from the corner line up back up the hill (100Baht). It is quiet and off the main drag. This may not be for you, but it suits me fine.

My wingman stayed in the suite - bedroom, and lounge area with kitchenette. He was very impressed and will stay there again. He hired a 125cc Motor bike to get round.

As for me...the Hillside is my home away from home when I am in Pattaya.
