Visa questions

Recommended Posts

I just got back from my October trip. I loved it but of course it wasn't long enough. I don't think I can get an "0" visa because of a minor record from when I was young. If I get a tourist visa, the 60 day type, I believe I can get it extended. So my question is, do I need a return ticket to enter with it, because if I can get it extended I don't know when I would return. Thanks guys

If you do not get a non-immigrant visa, you'll have to leave in a few months anyhow. You can't stay and stay and stay on a tourist visa. Figure a maximum stay of 90 days for planning purposes, although you can sometimes finesse that, or you might even get something shorter on rare occasions. You can make a border run, of course. Lots of info on those in the Search function.

The Thai embassy does not check your criminal record when it issues you a visa in your country, or an extension in Thailand. Thailand in fact is a haven for criminals, sad to say.

The no-return ticket scam on the visa run can be handled with a purchase of a bus ticket at 200 Baht.

You don't have to worry, they will ask you about it, as it happen on my last run to the border.
