cheapest airfare from lax to BKK?

Recommended Posts

You should be able to get EVA for around $800.00. I booked for Jan 18 and the cost was $780.00 plus tax which came to a total of $860.00. Upgrade to Evergreen Deluxe/Elite for about $1150 and you get better seating and comfort.

Well, the cost for Eva has drastically increased to over $1400 roundtrip LAX to BKK. Better off with Thai Air.

Another plug for UAL's Premier Executive level.

Aside from the other benefits, three bags at 70 lbs each for international.

Last trip Bkk<>USA I had a third piece of luggage: a 2 meter, 40kg hollow mahogany tree trunk (aaaah Chatujak Market...),wrapped in roofing plastic with rope handles.

UAL: No problem sir, our staff will escort the piece to oversize luggage (xrayed).

It was already tagged, off it went to the plane and I to the gate.

No problem either at IAD...

Customs: What is that?

ME: A piece of mahogany.

Customs: Okay, Thank you sir.

IAD TSA people, however, dropped it, resulting in a drum-like boom throughout the terminal. It was a good boom though...a thud would have meant it cracked! :D :D (but not a boom boom)

well I bought my tickets from cathy and wanted to know if anyone has flown cathy and info about the comfort of flight? thanks for all the info guys

My second flight with them will be a few days before the departure day you asked about and I've got nothing bad to say about my first flight 4 months back. Middle seat was open on both long hauls, some cute girls on the crew, service andfood were satisfactory, personal TV system, and the pilots hauled ass to be on time.

I dont know that I know the programs any better than you, Emil. I know you have been using United's for a long time and have frequently made sensible suggestions. Keep them up, always glad to learn!

True, EVA has just gone up, but not that much. Shop harder.

Just 1 day ago I purchased SFO->BKK roundtrip in Delux for $1200 (jan21 departure, so not much advance). Given that I am gold at EVA, I am 50% to get bumped up to biz class so this is not that bad a deal.

I would never pay $1400 for an econnomy ticket across the Pacific, that's absurd.

If you are buying EVA through the website, you got to click, and click, and click. Eventually you will find a cheap tick.

.....Similarly, I won’t fly certain airlines whatever their price – such as Korean, which stopped pre-assigning seats from LAX a few years ago.....

Wasn't aware of that!

I flew round trip with Korean twice in the fall of '06 MSP thru ORD to BKK and all seats were assigned.

Glad I didn't connect through LAX!

In spite of the bad hours they arrive and depart at, which was one of my many complaints about United along with the surly FA's and mediocre food, I'll probably go back to them full time in '08 because I prefer their Triple Seven flights through ORD to the 744's most of the bargain airlines are using. That, along with their superior program has me grudgingly agreeing with Emil. If I didn't have the connecting flights all the time to MSP they would have a fighting chance to actually get me home on time once in a while. While almost all the carriers seem to get me to the States as scheduled, I inevitably get delayed once I'm back in the US with whatever airline I use, because then I'm at the mercy of a US carrier again.

I hope you West Coast people appreciate the advantages you have!

Huh? I have about 15 or so trips on the Tapai airlines arriving on the west coast (SFO/LAX) and connecting to Atlanta, never once with a delay.

Remind me never to fly with you :-)
