I'm no cheap charlie, but Kuwait Airlines are really cheap compared to others, it's possible to save around £200 compared to the other more recognised routes to the LOS, and £200 is £200 after all!!!

I believe that no alcohol is served on board - but that does not bother me! I've also read a few reviews online about them - most of them pretty unfavourable but most seem to be a few years old and few decent reviews.

Any BMs have first hand experience with them? If so your views would be very welcome.

Had noticed they come up first at around £450, but will not be using them to long stop-overs

Yesterday booked with Eva Airways for 27th February non-stop at only £465.00 that is

cheapest for me and just in time before British Airport Tax increases and will take taxes to

to almost £200 what a rip-off.

Hi scotchbroth100.

Booked my flight with www.opodo.co.uk but get in quick very few seats left,

and before they apply the new dreaded increase in airport tax.

I booked a one way ticket from BKK to LHR in November on line with Kuwait and it cost 13,285 baht. That hit my credit card at 192 pounds. I joined their frequent flyers club (Oasis) on line and at BKK I was upgraded to Business Class as far as Kuwait. OK, no alcohol all the way to LHR but that was no prob. I was able to get some sleep on the first leg which I normally find impossible. The bad reviews I have read were unfounded. Not the best airline but good enough at the price. Kuwait airport only average.

Airport Passenger Duty from UK airports is currently 40 quid for long-haul economy passengers.

What is this "new dreaded increase in airport tax"?

I think you'll find the increase was 1 February 2007 ...........................

The rates are on the HMCR website .................

HMCR - APD

From the BBC's website ...................

Q&A: Air passenger tax rise

Air Passenger Duty (APD) doubled on 1 February. Some passengers are having to pay extra despite buying their tickets previously.

Some airlines have said passengers cannot fly unless they have paid the extra cost in advance while others are meeting the charges themselves. Others are letting people pay on arrival at the airport.

Has it caused chaos at UK airports?

There have been no reports of the change causing delays around the UK. BBC correspondents at several main airports have reported some irritation among passengers, but no major problems.

Easyjet, which emailed customers and publicised the changes on its website, said the "vast majority of passengers" with tickets had now paid the difference.

Staff from the airline and Virgin were collecting the additional money in the check-in queues.

Why has this come about?

Chancellor Gordon Brown announced in his pre-budget statement on 6 December that duty on passengers flying out of British airports after 1 February 2007 was to double.

Most airlines raised their flight fares once his announcement was made.

But the duty also applies to those who booked beforehand and this has been dealt with in various ways by the airlines.

The chancellor's critics say it was unusually short notice for an increase in duty and that the announcement has caused confusion.

How much is the new Air Passenger Duty?

The duty has risen to:

Economy class flights in Europe, internal UK flights - £10

Business and first class flights in Europe - £20

Economy class long-haul flights - £40

Business and first class long-haul flights - £80
