Actual transmission from a US navy destroyer to a unidentified radar target directly in it path;

US Navy Destroyer;

This is US Navy destroyer to unidentified contact bearing dead ahead, come left to my port

Unidentified targets response;

negative,suggest you come right from my current position

US Navy Destroyers response;

US Navy destroyer to vessel dead ahead, negative!, My vessel has right of way, I am warning you once again to come left to my port! Our vessels are in danger of a collision,I insist you heed my instructions!

Or I will be forced to take offensive action!

Unidentified targets response;

To the US NAVY SHIP,This is the Point Loma lighthouse, up to you

I know it's a joke but have you ever seen the tip of Point Loma on radar? It's not like you could mistake it for anything else. Picky, picky, picky, that's me.

I have entered and exited from San Diego more times than I can count. Trust me, you would not mistake the Point Loma Lighthouse as a moving target. Buoy SD1 perhaps, but not the lighthouse.

I don't know whether it's a true conversation or not, but it's ancient. The version I have somewhere on my PC has a Canadian lighthouse. I also received another version a week or so ago involving an Irish lighthouse.
