I quite like the idea of Blues Factory having its own jam night once or twice a week!

How many Guys/ Girls out there would be interested in having a night where they can get on stage and jam with the band?

Maybe blues on tuesday and rock on thursday?

Dave:

Suggest you get a local musician to ramrod the jam. A good jam takes a lot of effort to put together and to run it properly. Pacing is important as are a lot of other things. IMO, one night would be proper, otherwise you will get stretched too thin on participants.

A well organized jam, presented in a professionl manner is a lot of fun. The method it is done and presented is important as if it gets "sloppy" my bet is that you will not find many customers. That is why it is so important to have a good organizer to run the jam.

Good idea and Good Luck!

A little update.

The blues jam nights have been discussed and we hope to have them up and running very soon, probably tuesday and they will be ran by Snowman, As far as a rock jam night we are considering doing one on thursday with Lam Morrison and the Rock Machine.

The other idea we are discussing is Snowman, Lam and the blues band so we can have a rock/ blues jam on tuesdays.

I'll keep you informed.

:)

PS No advertising as yet but you can see Lam Morrison in the Blues Factory from midnight on wednesdays and thursdays and from 1230am fri, sat and sundays nights.

I can now confirm that the blues jam nights will start this tuesday!

Hosted by Ken "the Snowman" Minihan we invite all those singers/ players to come and sign up and jam with the band. There are some great musicans out there and we hope to attract them into the bar every tuesday.

With discounts for "jammers" and a strict "Blues Only" policy we hope to get tuesdays back to real blues nights with no rock and Pop.

We have a few brass section and harp players lined up and also of course some gutiarists including "Len Tucky" ex Suzi Quattro band.

Band starts at 10pm and we hope too see you there.

Oh my god.

If there is a hell this night would be it for me. :banana

I can see it now. Some old fat fukka with his shirt undone singing 'My Way'.

Bring back Rockin Jerry. All is forgiven.

Actually, I've never ever heard blues in the Blues Factory.

Maybe you haven't spent enough time in there then?

The majority of numbers they do are all by blues artists.:bj2

I'll tell you what Dave.

Next time I'm in town I'll pop in on a Tuesday night with a few mates.

Deal is you have to sit outside and watch the jamming as well. ALL NIGHT.

What you reckon then? No sitting in theback office.

That's probably true. I've only heard Lam playing (not blues), and a few songs by the Blues Machine...but all I can remember is them doing classic rock.

a night without scary mary , that sounds good

But too be honest you and MM haven't been in for a long while and also it depends on the time and the night, this is one reason for this jam night as I want too lose some of the pop stuff along with the Filipino song lists that pop up every now and then (Tina Turner, Addicted to love and CCR etc), as said the majority of songs are all by blues artists but some are arranged to suit the customers and Mary's style, When Mary is on stage she sometimes moves away from the blues styles depending on the customers.

Another thing is that we need to cater for is the Thai ladies that pop in and blues isn't always suitable.

Regarding Blues Snowman has always said too me in the past that he actually tires of playing the traditional 12 bar blues stuff, he likes to try the many different styles like new Orleans, Cajun and boogie woogie etc.

I stayed for a bit tonight but fell ill so I came home but the songs I heard were Stevie Ray Vaughn, BB King, Albert King etc etc.

:D

How'd it go last night? I was planning on dropping in, but got hung up in the bar by a band of heavy drinkers (rightsaid leading the pack). And Ergodyne came by on his birthday, and I had to twist his arm to jam with the band.

Dave, point well taken as it has been a while since I have been in. Apparently there has been changes made in the musical presentation since my last visits.

Went ok although I went home sick at about midnight, Snowman informed me that he wasn't actually planning to start it until next week but he did it this week because I'd put the posters up, that confused me a bit.

Depending on when you last came there have been changes, since last october we've got a new drummer and a new bass player along with of course a new guitarist and singer with the rock band and of course Lam Morrison has come back to the club.

Lam plays a few blues numbers but mainky sticks to his normal stuff, rock n roll mainly and the guitar ballads etc.
