Can't get Adobe flash player to work on Firefox 3

Recommended Posts

I am hoping that there are some real experts on the board (not "experts" like Otherway)

My computer is driving me around the bend, I have a Toshiba satellite laptop with an intel duo core processor working on Vista home premium.

I simply can't open anything that requires a Flash player like Youtube on Firefox 3, it keeps telling me to install flash player; when I try to install the latest version of Adobe Flash player it tells me that I cant install it until I get rid of Firefox 3 :ang2 .

To compound matters I cant open Internet explorer anytime that I have Skype installed because it freezes the page and then closes down the programme  .

I know I am not the only person in the world to encounter these problems and from researching people are saying that Adobe does not like the Firefox people and Skype and Internet explorer are not the best of buddies.

So can anyone give me very simple step by step solutions to these problems(it needs to be simple for me as I am not a techie)

Thank you in advance :devil

Are you in Pattaya right now?

If so, PM me and I will plan to meet you at FLB or another location tomorrow or later int he week and will fix it for you.

This is a fairly easy problem for a "techie" to fix.. not so simple to explain how to fix (in non techie terms).... and impossible when your drunk (as I now am).

if you can understand some techie speak, you need to disable all non native Active-X Controls via the "Internet" control panel for IE... once done, you can use IE to download and install the latest flash, which will update firefox at the same time.

There are other ways too if that fails, but 9 times out of 10 it works.

Hope this helps... and let me know if your here and want help - will be more then happy to swing in somewhere to help you out.

Most obvious answer: You have to have administrators rights to install a program. Vista is a Mommy about that.

Download the upgrade/plug-in to your desktop. then RIGHT click on it and tell Vista to "run as administrator"

Had a recent problem with Adobe Flash Player and eventually found that I needed to download the Flash uninstaller program from the Adobe website before I could get the latest version of the Player to work.

"Due to recent enhancements to the Adobe Flash Player installers, you can now remove the player only by using the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller."

Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller

I know exactly the problem youre having. It doesnt matter how many times you try to install flash after firefox has thrown an error.....it just refuses to acknowledge that you have installed it!!!!!

Strangely it doesnt apply to every flash web site (only certain ones).....computers dont ya luv em!!!!!!
