Obtaining an Seat Upgrade

Recommended Posts

After some advice guys,

Go my ticket for 23rd Oct with EVA Air departing at 9.35pm from Heathrow. Booked my daughter on same flight, her ticket was £522 through WestEast Travel. She is not now going and cancelling her ticket. The sods have offered me refund of taxes as her ticket was so restrictive with no cancellations etc.

Ok, so I'm losing £360 and getting abck £160 in tax.

I have been trying to get WestEast to talk to EVA about 'softening the blow' of losing all this money and getting me an upgrade from Economy to Premium Economy or Business (may as well ask eh!). No joy so far.

Anyone got any tips for an upgrade under my particular circumstances. Responses welcome, but nowt too rude please lads.

Thanks in Advance.

Head for the campest looking guy at the check in. 'Accidentally' drop your documents over the counter and before he can react, offer to 'retrieve' the document, duck your head behind the counter and....

Well you sound pretty desperate.....

Sounds like you have a rather indulged/ fortunate daughter there.....

Take the £160 and have a good night out .....

I get the impression that the once 'super' Eva are a little less anxious to please these days...

You might have done better if you daughter could have come up with a better reason... illness or a bereavement.

The "top girl" on check in, is a Debbie Phillips who deals with first and business class (normally).

Uk national so youre not dealing with a Taiwanese.

Have had dealings with her twice, and kept her name because of quality service.

Suggest you write a letter to her (as youre not leaving for 3 weeks) at Eva in London appealing to her better nature.

Make the excuse better than the one youve listed here though !!

Goes without saying dress smartly.

Chivas, Many thanks.

I'll have a go. Don't want to say too much to them which isn't true as they may ask for evidence i.e doctors certifcation ec. Worth a try though.

Does she work for EVA or Air Canada (EVA doesn't have a First Class product)? I was under the impression that EVA flights at Heathrow were handled by Air Canada .

Hi Tom,

Eva is indeed handled by Air Canada, but nearly always has Eva Ground handlers checking in the old first (on the 747 as it was a few years ago) and Premium Laurel.

Debbie Phillips is always out front on premium check desks, in Evergreen clothing.

I did have her email address for the OP and will try to find it.

You legend, if you have the email address for her that could be handy, rather than writing.

At least I can get a quick reply (hopefully)

You also ring eva direct at heathrow and ask them to help it might help but with these speacial price tickets I would not expect to get much back.

May be she should pay the difference for dropping out or at least may a contribution.

Thanks for that.

She's 7 years old, so no chance. :clap2

If any BMs are flying from LHR with Eva in the very near future can you try and find out if Debbie is still working with BR? If so try and find a current e-mail.

I have had no luck with the two e-mail addresses I tried and also a non BM who flies a bit with BR cannot remember seeing Debbie for some time.

TIA
