I thought the one at the end of jomtien was a bit bland and not too clean. We go to one on sukhumvit rd,where you can feed the catfish and carp, bloody huge.Drive past Tesco Lotus, which will be on your right and about 3 hundred yards up on the left, next to a garage.awesome food and a good price too. Many thais go there and a few farangs.coming back north, thru the lights by Tesco is another on the left as you drive north, doesntlook thats good from the outside but great food and a giant screenfor footie.Vientienne on pattaya thai is a good one too.

Thanks for a useful post. My TGF has been trying to get me to take her to this one on Suk for ages. You prompted me with the 'good price too' comment. Edited by jacko

Just got back from the restaraunt thats on sukhumvit and on the right before Tesco Lotus. You have to turn back on yourself if you are driving south, thats before the lights at threprasit rd.Any way we had 4 dishes,3 rice,i big bottle heinekin, 1 sprite and 1 water and the bill was 380 baht,a great meal and great service.the place was packed too.

highly recommended.

So it is someplace between Threppasit and Homeworks/Big C on Sukhumvit? Do you need to get over to the left quick after that U-turn because for the life of me I cannot think of the place.

Maybe here?

jacko, the turn off to do a u turn is opposite soi khao talo, before tesco lotus traffic lights.then its only a couple of hundred yeards, and you will see a giant screen and its way before big c.

looked at the sat nav and yes its that one.the other good one is thru threassit lights going south with tesco to your right, and about 3-400 yards its on your left.much nicer decor and only very slightly more expensive.

Yeah the other one is easy to spot, it has a fishing park doesn't it?

My trip arriving 3rd December now definitely cancelled. Now returning in January when hopefully £ will buy me more of everything. Surely they will sort it all out before Christmas? Would the King ever get involved? As I understand it all he has to say to PAD is "leave the airport" and they would be out in 5 minutes.

You up early mate, early night last night
Normally am if I haven't been on the town. Have to adapt to the neighbours in Thailand, and their kids and their dogs and their chickens....and the new Bangkok International Airport at U-Tapao produces a lot of early AM noise! Edited by jacko

There is a nice open air Thai restaurant open all night in Soi Boukhow. Half way between Sawsdee hotel and the day market on the same side of the road. It is reasonably priced and all the TG's I have took there were very impressed. A lot of TG's go there when they finish work. In April the menu was all Thai, but now its translated. There is no Farang food at all here.

I went looking for the one you described tonight. The one on the Southbound carriage... about 300m after Tesco Lotus. It was called rhua mai (wooden boat).. it was near a garage. All wood, built over a small smelly lake, and you can eat on a pontoon type thing that wobbles as the waiters pace about. Food was okay, that which managed to arrive, nice ambiance and cheap too. But service was a cluster fuck.... the old trick of bringing one of your dishes, to stop you leaving .. the rice a few minutes later. Then several minutes wait for the second. a while to the third, and one dish completely forgotten about.

I was thinking I got the wrong place, there is a much bigger one over a lake further South, but it is certainly much more than 300m from Tesco-Lotus.

This is the place I went to... http://www.pattayaphotoguide.com/?zzmRUhSvkceBED3A

Yeah I think I got the wrong place. As to service, no, I go out to restaurants a lot and this was not typical. Generally they are much better around Pattaya. (Also not the first time I have had this lack of knowing how to get it together either.

If you move around on the link I gave you, there is a car sales place next door under the blue billboard.
